I used a jar of pb2 in a 2.5g batch, it wasn't very noticeable - it's there if you're looking for it, more in the nose than anything. Added it with like 10mins left in the boil. Not in this recipe specifically but a porter anyways.

I had a stout with a pound of lactose and I think 4oz of maltodextrine which finished above 1.020, otherwise everything has been between 1.010 & 1.015, within a point or two of the kit instructions or what I got on beer smith. I think improper aeration can also be a culprit here?

Question for you guys... I have looked thru this thread and the schematics as well as the write up in the jan 2012 BYO. In the BYO write up there is a 10amp fuse. Rather than a fuse would it be possible to use a breaker? Either way, is this NEEDED? Regardless as I don't know a ton about...

I was told our beer store/redemption center will sell for the $.05 deposit per bottle. I have a ton of 12oz, but looking for the 22oz Sam Adams bottles & the banana bread/chocolate stout bottles... Also I had some pretty funky bottles I used boiling water & oxy clean, it took care of business.

At least I wasn't the only one to force the grommet into the wort on my first brew. In a panic my arm went fully in to fish it out & I thought the beer would turn it bad but it was fine! If I had a spare I would've left it in there... :)

I just rebrewed the extract version today with 1lb of lactose & 8oz of malto dextrine - a coworkers husband recommended that to give it more body. I got some nibs I want to add once fermentation finishes up - I guess like a dry hop...

Dumb question but the book says to steep/spare the specialty grains but looking up ingredients the biscuit says it needs something with diastic power. None of the other specialties with this do? Also is malto dextrine the same as dextrine malt?

Sam converted me to good beer. I still enjoy their seasonal packs occasionally, some more than others. Their Octoberfest was once my favorite even.. One thing I've noticed lately & I'm not sure if my tastes have changed or if they are "dumbing down" their beer for the masses but it tastes...
