So now I’m wondering which IC to get. I mostly just do 5 gallon batches (biab) in a 10 gallon (soon to be 15 or 20 gallon) kettle. I don’t want an IC where half of it is sticking out above the liquid line.

Is there a benefit to stainless vs copper for a IC?

I am doing everything you mention here...my compressor delay is set to the default of 3 min. Only difference in my setup and what you state is the cooling differential being 3deg instead of 1. I’m not positive the way I have the temp probe is correct but it seems like I saw someone do a study...

I think it was mostly an issue with dead air - meaning there wasn't much in the minifridge when I was testing this - just one - likely half full keg. Now that there's two in there (1 full, one 1/2 ish) it doesn't cycle nearly as much. about 6-7 times in a 24 hr period.

That’s why I was surprised that much difference on the second pour. Like I poured two at once. Yes the tower is insulated, has a small fan with tube blowing air up there. And there’s another fan in the main case circulating air.

So based on this your using 10 gallons of storage container for 50lbs of grain. So in theory I could get away with a 10, let’s say 20 gallon size vittles vault for uncrushed grain.

I'm not a scientist but the dog food I buy has pretty large size kibble - like nickel size...there's a lot of airspace between them. If you read the reviews on chewy.com some people state that their 30lb dog food didn't fit in the 40lb container. I mean a 30lb lead weight is not the same size...

Which vittles vault do you use for 50lb of grain - uncrushed? Seems simple to just go with the size based on the pound rating but since it's for dog food which is much bigger than grain and contains more space between the kibble, I wonder if you can get away with a smaller size...

Thanks - yes MB and NB are my normal go-to beer supply place. I started buying grain from NB...for the same reasons as the thread you quoted.

Heard and if it was a quick drive I'd do that every time, regardless of what they have in stock or not....but its at least 30-45 min one way and they don't always have the bases. They are new so maybe growing pains...

I've been buying my grain at the (somewhat) local HBS but the last couple times I've gone in it's been hit or miss as to what they have available. Good for them as they seem to be selling a lot, but a pain if they don't have enough of what I need. I've had good luck with getting what I need...
