    Question for process engineers

So I'm using my IRIMS set up, I tuned my PID closed loop to a flow of 1gpm and 22lbs of grain at 1.5 ratio. Loop works great, but as expected, with more grain, like 25 lbs it tends to overshoot. Is there a simple tweak to one of the constants to get it closer, or should I add another PID...

    IRIMS is here!

Insulation is the key here. My 4500w setup is working great! I'm getting 1-1.3 deg per minute at flow of 1-1.5 gpm.

Can it even be done? Measuring Specific Gravity using Arduino or Raspberry Pi

Sorta already out there, though pricey. http://www.morebeer.com/products/beer-bug.html?gclid=CjwKEAjwovytBRCdxtyKqfL5nUISJACaugG1N0eFyVORoOVj9qTUDoQBF4OIIrLAhHMKul3OjshRhxoC4Cvw_wcB

Thanks AJ, never used a 4 wire, only TC's in the nuclear industry.

    Difference PT100 and K probe

To expand: Thermocouple- it's a probe that uses two different metals joined at a point (the actual thermocouple), that junction generates a small voltage in relation to the temperature, that's why AJ said they are active. There are many types out there with different metals making the probe...

Look at Micro Motion Mass Flow Meters on eBay. I use them while brewing. Works great!

RO water pH level - EZWater

RO water has no or little buffering capacity, so for the most part assume neutral ph of 7. But as it sits in the kettle it will pick up CO2 and acidify to 6-6.5. I alway use 7 though am I'm pretty darn close.

I know TRUB is doing a grain buy, I made the suggestion to talk to you and use your pricing. They have a place to deliver too. I can pass the word on the grains. Can you send me the list?

    O2 saturation question

The heck with all of that. Are you sure your dissolving all O2? No way. Your speaking in a ideal situation. Unless you have like 5 plus meters of turbulent flow to allow the O2 to be absorbed all this theory is a waste of time.

    O2 saturation question

I thought saturation was saturation, anything over 9ppm is over-saturation.

    Looking for Inline pH meter

You should re calibrate every time you use a ph meter. I have 2 of the wedgewood ph probe holders, the probes are kept in the soaker bottle they came with, until I use them. It sucks, but that's what it takes. The

    O2 saturation question

When using 100% O2 in our 70f wort, why worry about over oxygenation when you can only get 9ppm in 70f water at saturation? Higher SG would raise the saturation level right? So as I can see it, it would be very hard to over oxygenate wort. Am I off here?

    So long automation....

Speak for yourself, I love my brewery. While I do agree that there is a limit, and past that limit you will put more time into the equipment vs the beer. The trick is to automate enough that it will allow you to focus on better beer.
