Quick review on MaltZilla and a request

I have been buying crushed grain from Morebeer and fighting mash efficiencies in the 50% range. I was thinking of moving back to extracts, but then SHMBO (who feeds the wild birds in the backyard) discovered that the birds like the spent grains, so I told her it was her fault I had to spend...

Are old returnable longneck bottles stronger than new disposable ones?

I have (unintentionally) waaaaaayyyy overcarbed a stout that was in these bottles. Even cold, they were all undrinkable gushers, one even splashed the ceiling when opened, and did not have any grenades.......

Running the pump on Brewzilla Gen 4

From my understanding (and I have been wrong before a couple of times in my seventy years), the issue with running the pump during the boil is the chance of sucking air into the pump instead of water.....instant cavitation......

    IPA hop additions

^^THIS^^^ Use Magnum or Nugget for the bittering hops. Both have high acid content so you don't need much, and they are usually cheaper than your good flavor/aroma hops....

    Hop tea

A couple of questions for the advanced extract brewers....

I have been brewing ~3 years now, started with extracts and have been doing all grain for the past year or so in a Brewzilla 3.1.1. I have seriously been thinking of moving back to extract brewing for two reasons. 1) Easier with shorter brew days.... 2) While I feel I can get a better beer...

    Help me autopsy this beer....

I don't know about the off taste, but whenever I use a Kviek, the beer NEVER clears, it stays cloudy forever...I'll still use Voss occasionally because I do like the citrusy/orangey flavor it adds....was 100 maybe a bit hot? I thought 95 was the upper limit on Voss, when I use it, I ferment at 90.

    Pond pump in cold creek

I use a pond pump submerged in a cooler full of ice water. It pumps the ice water through the chiller and then the returns goes back in the cooler. Takes me about 20 minutes to go from boil to 75F. I then use the water in the cooler for cleaning water, and after used for cleaning, it gets...
