I don't think it's fair to include the cost of the keggerator in the cost of brewing. You could just as well have built the kegerator to serve commercial brew.
The wort isn't scorching, it is undissolved malt that falls to the bottom of the pot. As others have mentioned, you need to remove the heat source while you add the malt and make sure it is dissolved before you begin to add heat again. As long as there is no undissolved malt, you can crank up...

I agree. I don't think unpasteurized beer would be any worse than pasteurized.
Edit: Pregnancy and alcohol is still an important thing to discuss, albeit a bit off topic from the original point of this thread.
We know for a fact alcohol is very bad for the fetus. We just haven't found a threshold for safety. As far as I know, the strongest point on your side is a lack of data, which is not very compelling. If you have something stronger then please share.
This isn't true and a lot of people end up hurting themselves with this line of thinking.
Note that I am referring to life in general and not home brewing.
The water guy in my town used to manage water in St. Louis and he worked closely with the breweries so he was pretty awesome. I'm moving though, so I hope my next water guy is cool.
