What about dry hopping in primary?

I'm brewing an IPA I would like to dry hop, but as I'm not a fan of secondary ferementers I thought that after the first two weeks of fermentation I could simply open the lid and throw inside 50 grams of hops in flower, then let it sit for one more week. What do you think of this method...

First contamination, can I reuse the bottles?

I had my first contamination after more than 50 batches. I threw away every plastic element that stayed in contact with the infection. But I am still worried about the bottles. I cleaned them concienciously, with water and soap, I will sanitize them prior to bottling next batch. Will this be...

    Guinness (a BASH)

Yeah, It sucks, everyone here knows that. But I must say that before I "saw the light" about what a good beer is, I used to love it. Now I know I was wrong.

My funny story with beer, cars and police.

I guess what would have happen if here we could take weapons with us like in the US... Sure the ending of the story would have been different :rockin: Here that privilege of having guns is reserved for those illuminated and touched by the fingers of God who protect mankind of it's own...

Pitching on yeast cake always this fast?

I pitch over a yeast cake every two weeks, never found odd flavors or missing flavors due to overpitching. In response to the threat's question. It's normal, last week I pitched a 5 gall batch of Imperial Stout over the cake of a Red Ale. 5 hours later it was bubbling like crazy and 3 cm krausen.

My funny story with beer, cars and police.

Ok, here is my story with beer and driving. Ten years ago I was driving after drinking more or less six beers. I was 20 years old and it was a short five minutes trip to my home, I decided to drive because there was no train or bus and it was a very desertical area. Another car "jumped" (I...

    Shaking the bucket?

I've had more than five batches in witch I never saw a bubble in the airlock and all of them fermented right. It had nothing to do with sealing, I know because they were different buckets, and I have seen bubbles in following batches with those buckets. I just don't know why they didn't bubble...

    Aereation with yeast cakes

Thanks for those answers, :mug: Brewing day, during my mash, I bottle a batch that has been in primary for three weeks (in wich I piched a packet of dry yeast). I simply leave the yeast inside the fermenter , and after chilling the new wort I pour it over the cake (more or less 1 litre of...

    Aereation with yeast cakes

Hey, I use to pour my wort over the yeast cake of the previous batch. When I do it I always wander if I should aereate the mixture or not since the yeast has already multiplied, so it has passed it's aerobic phase. But I don't know why I always end up aereating. Is this right? Do you think it...

How many times can I use a yeast cake?

All of my yeast cakes are reused 3 times. But sure you can use it 300. Maybe you need to do that to get the best yeast ever.

I like my beer flat. Is that weird?

When you are a singer it's great that you like your beer flat, I'm trying to find a recipe that I like without carbonation, since I have lots of problems with beer on stage. Every two words a burp scapes.
