What does your HBT name mean?

Per Wikipedia: "The male or female name Devin is pronounced DEV-in. It is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is most commonly given as 'bard' or 'poet'." Your welcome! :-)

What does your HBT name mean?

I've always had a thing for Bettie Page! I've just always used this as my Internet handle since 1993 or so.

So, no offense, but you are selling them for the retail price? Why wouldn't someone just buy them "new" from a retailer?

    Hello from Bangladesh

Oh yeah, I would guaran-GD-tee you there isn't a home brew shop in Bangladesh. No offense to the OP, but in a country with an average per capita income in the $800 per year range, home brewing is way down the list as a viable business. And let's not forget to mention alcohol is illegal in the...

DC Metro area group buy #1

Geeze Louise! I've been obsessively scanning the QR code on my sack of Weyermann roasted barley. Damn crease in the bag! Then I realized, "Duh, add your bags code to that link on HBT"! http://www.weyermann.de/pdf_analyses/N271-061060-01.pdf Pretty cool!

    MD/DC grain

Kudos to stonebrewer for putting together the successful first "new" group buy! It was great to meet you and chat about brew & world travel. It's fantastic this will still be an option in the DC area! Hope there is interest in keeping this going. From the way I see it, that went off without a...

Big +1 on this! Kudos to stonebrewer for putting this first "new" group buy together. It was great to meet you and chat about brew & world travel. Here's a pic of that Trappist ale I was talking about. I'll make sure to bring it when I pick up on #2!

    4500 Watt Element Without Drilling

Just a quick aside comment. Don't be too quick to knock Harbour Freight. For certain things they are great! Sand paper, rip saw blades, drill bits, ect.... I've saved a ton and the products have been just great! I've known folks who have used some of the air tools too and no problems. Now mind...

So whaddaya think of this 2000 watt pot boiler?

No worries! I was hoping somebody on the forum had actually used these. Whether converted in the states or overseas. I'll try to find them when I get to Ukraine and hopefully they work. If they don't, I suppose I can build something with local parts there. Would probably be cheaper than here in...

So whaddaya think of this 2000 watt pot boiler?

Thanks for the link. I have looked at those but since Ukraine, where I will be living, and most countries where I've lived or will live are 220 to 240 V it would be kind of useless for me unless I plug it into the converter. I have thought about making one but when I found these at this price...

So whaddaya think of this 2000 watt pot boiler?

Sure! It'll be July/Aug by the time I get there. My Russian instructor (who is Ukrainian) actually recognized it as something his mom had used to boil larger pots when he was a kid. It looks like the German "Schuko" type plug which they use there (or the older soviet type which was a reverse...

Any home brewers in Kiev, Ukraine area?

Hell, anyone in Ukraine at all? Even Russian or German clubs/groups that you may know of! My Russian is ok and I can get by with my German. Just looking to meet folks to swap advice and help find sources for ingredients.

So whaddaya think of this 2000 watt pot boiler?

Don't get me wrong, Ive been happy as heck to use one of the shocker showers. But you'd wonder what the tingling on your head was during a shower. Oh I got too close to the head and was getting shocked! With some, we'd see who could hold their hand closest up the stream of water! Yup, pretty stupid

So whaddaya think of this 2000 watt pot boiler?

Whoa! I never said Ukraine was 3rd world! I said my job keeps me in the 3rd world. This is actually gonna be a pretty sweet post! Relatively speaking. But it is a developing country. Really should use that language anyway :-) But back to the heater. Yup it is over 12" long 240V, 2000W...

So whaddaya think of this 2000 watt pot boiler?

So to start things off, I'm looking at using a couple of these along with a kitchen burner for partial mashes of 11 gallon batches. They will will be partial boils with a start of around 8 gallons. These are built to run off 240. Now before ya freak out too much, these are made in Ukraine...
