$400 invested and three problem riddled batches to show for it

Remember if you're letting your wort sit all day to cool, you're going to get more bitterness from your hops than you'd normally expect. There is info on this in the No Chill Brewing threads.

    The Walking dead

Agreed dudious. If they're going to do these midseason premieres then they need to treat the first episode like it was the first of a season. Was ghost Laurie supposed to shock us? That just felt like a standard midseason episode to me. Also, friendly reminder to keep all discussions about the...

Simple Rules for Drinking My Homebrew

When I give someone a beer, bottled or off the keg, it's a gift and they can do with it what they like. If it's someone who had never had homebrew I'll pour and explain why, after that it's on them. The actual brewing is half the fun for me so if I have a party and a ton disappears, and some...

    Video Games

The cost for Xbox live has always blown my mind compared to PSN being free. I've subscribed to PS+ which is pretty awesome, and is the same price as Xbox gold.

BEST music in a film... (orchestral scores aside)

The last one is Mad World right? Good song and pretty perfect in that movie.

    Video Games

This is the first playstation I probably won't be in line to get at launch. I just don't have the time to game as much so I have a huge backlog, and I don't know what the PS4 is going to have over the 3 for a while. Graphics alone aren't going to do it for me anymore.

All-Grain to Extract Conversion help (Goose Island Green Line Clone)

A very cool, hadn't heard of that grain yet. Looks like I'll be giving it a shot!

All-Grain to Extract Conversion help (Goose Island Green Line Clone)

What's Belgian aromatic? The most recent Green Lines I've been drinking taste very light... I guess my palate has adjusted a little, as I've been drinking tons of stouts lately.

    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

Wife just said our liquor cabinet smells awesome now that there are a bunch of tobaccos in it. Maybe I can baby step my way into an indoor smoke...

    Star Wars VII

I know it's sacrilegious, but I hate 3PO in the originals more than Jar Jar in the first. He's so annoying.... I hope he isn't in the next one.

    Bottling Temps

Yeah I should have been clearer. The ceramic bulbs are literally made of ceramic. They emit no light, just get warm. The infrared lights are ok because it's the UV light that messes with your beers. If you want though, you can throw a sheet or something over the bottles while they carbonate or...

    Grassy flavor in Black IPA

Common misconception. Tannins are extracted by a combination of high pH and high temperature in your mash/steep. Squeeze away!

    Bottling Temps

You can go to a pet store and get a ceramic or infrared light bulb. They use them to keep terrariums warm for lizards and screw into a normal lamp. You can hook that up to a thermostat or one of those eBay aquarium temp controllers everyone on this site loves (including me) and use that. It's...

    Best brew for beginners?

I would think the more forgiving beers are going to be beers with a strong flavor like IPAs (hops cover imperfections) or stouts (lots of roast grains). Unfortunately they are also tricky for newbies who typically are going extract partial boil beers. I've heard that Belgian beers are friendly...
