@Kent88 Thank you for the link that is exactly what I needed to get the testing done!

Sorry about that. I noticed that the quote was grayed out in my reply and it wouldn't allow me to delete it for some reason.

Soft Water, is it okay for brewing

All great suggestions and thank you. I wil probably do some extract brewing I am sure but I really am already set up for all grain anot that would prohibit me from extract of course. I do plan on having my water tested soon (prior to starting) and I also have a Bio Chemist for a son so I got...

Soft Water, is it okay for brewing

No I do not. My bedrock sits about 38 inches below the soil. I was told by our well guy that we are approximately 250-300 feet down in an aquifer. The water is hard but not massively so.

Soft Water, is it okay for brewing

No I do not but will soon. I failed to mention I do have access to the hard water prior to it getting to the softener.

Soft Water, is it okay for brewing

I have never brewed before and I am beginning soon doing all-grain. I have a ph meter ready to go (still needs to be calibrated) but my question is, my house water is well water and I have a water softener can I use that water and adjust accordingly? Thanks!

Step 1 of the Keezer build. Still have all the Oak trim to complete

No it is just going to rest on the base with about a 4 to 5 inch oak encasement to keep it from slipping off. The bottom of that freezer is not suitable for any type of permanent attachment.

No I am forgoing the original lid and inlaying a patina copper top with oak trim.

Thank you for the link to the calc! Seems like it would be closer to 100 min. That is several beers before boil, could be dangerous and irresponsible lol.

Good news! I talked to them about the 120v system and how long it takes to get to a boil and they said about 30 to 45 min. Being new to brewing I do not know how long a 220v element would take in comparison. Having reviewed all the single electric vessel systems out there my opinion is none...

Well it just got to be overwhelming regarding brewing options and I realized I needed to have a place to put the brew before I could start brewing so I might as well get that done first. I am still leaning towards the Clawhammer system but its not carved in stone at this time. Since these...

There are just so many ways to go and I want to do it right the first time. I have decided to focus on the Keezer and fermentation chamber builds first. Starting with a 7 cubic chest freezer and my first issue is a collar hinge or a lid hinge or both? I have the materials for that part of the...
