    Anyone have recipes for pears?

I have a bunch of pear trees that should yield more pears that I know what to do with. Do any of you have any experience with pear wine or anything like that? Thanks guys!

The piece that connects my co2 to my keg is stuck (help?)

To share something embarrassing - In desperation I straddled the keg by standing over it and holding it with my legs while I pulled up as hard as I could until my hand slipped and my closed fist connected with my balls.

The piece that connects my co2 to my keg is stuck (help?)

The piece that connects my co2 to my keg is stuck to the keg. I made the mistake of connecting it to the 'out' instead of the 'in' by just kind of auto-piloting through my sanitation procedure. I didn't think it mattered at all - but apparently it did. Has anyone else done this? How did...

    Too Much head!!

update: mother of god. i opened the top, stirred ever so gently, then watched the beer rise up like a horrific volcano and spill over the sides of the keg. I threw the top on and latched it again. : (

    Too Much head!!

I am doing this right now. My brother and I just finished undergrad and we have a whole lot of beer drinking family coming over tomorrow. I inadvertently over force-carbed the keg. I'll try this out.

Earth day: Whats a brewery's carbon foot-print like?

If there was anything to gripe about in the NASA/ GISS data it was stated in the report already in the "Data Flaw" section. edit: haha - just found this and im sure ed and i feel the same way about each other's posts right now.

Earth day: Whats a brewery's carbon foot-print like?

I mean - if you download the raw data you can see the alpha. I think thats just misunderstanding the data collection and statistical analysis. The NASA GISS stats are not "junk science". You just have to understand what it means and I certainly don't see anything to verify anything from your...

Earth day: Whats a brewery's carbon foot-print like?

I mean: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2007/ "The year 2007 tied for second warmest in the period of instrumental data, behind the record warmth of 2005, in the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) analysis. 2007 tied 1998, which had leapt a remarkable 0.2°C above the prior record...

Earth day: Whats a brewery's carbon foot-print like?

A coal plant is more efficient than an internal combustion engine in terms of output? Thats impressive. I went to a mechatronics presentation the other day and got to see a demonstration of an automatic bottling system for homebrewers. It was pretty cool/ really fast and didn't spill...

What do you mean by that? Volcanism is pretty steady. Rock weathering is contingent on carbonic acid.

Thats incredible. Their pale ale is my default beer. I wonder if it saves them money at all. I can't believe I haven't heard of that before now.

Earth day: Whats a brewery's carbon foot-print like?

Nice avatar. I wonder if it would be possible to build a brewery that wouldn't output more co2 than the hop plants would intake. Aren't solar panels still a chemical reaction? Also - I'm amazed that we still use coal power. Are we seriously burning coal to heat water into steam to spin a...

    Dry Humping question

So I made and Extra Lovin' Bitter. I want to give it that 'extra lovin' by dry humping the carboy when I transfer it to secondary. How much dry humping to get that extra lovin' flavor? [/parodythread]

Tips for my first brew session please...

You already brewed - but I figure I'll just throw my tip in anyway: 1 tsp of Irish moss at 15 minutes. Put it in a zip lock bag and tape it in front of your face while you brew so you don't forget it. : )
