    Two Questions

What Hang glider said... There is a wealth of info here, and at times it can be overwhelming, but as has been said, this is a good place to be. If you've been bitten by the bug though, and you want it all, "How to Brew" by John Palmer is a good place to start your education. The link will...

    1 inch o-ring on a barley crusher?

I have a Barley Crusher and my O-ring lasted about 4 batches and fell in the bucket... I found it later in the mash while I was stirring. The grain keeps the slave roller rolling while I'm milling... I don't even know why they put them on there.

How full to fill a corney?

I fill mine to the weld line near the top of the keg, which is near the bottom of the gas in tube and also just about where the rubber starts like Yooper said, and I've never had any problems carbing. As long as you don't have to dip the lid in liquid in order to put it on you should be OK.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I suppose I should go ahead and post on this thread being that I finally joined the Apfelwien club, although I've only read the first hundred or so posts... I've put together two batches so far, the second is still in the primary from early December which I plan to bottle, the first one was...

    Name My Son (Another Poll)

My second son is due next month, my third child... this third one took longer to name than the the first two... I like William, but its kind of hard to choose without the middle and last name to see how it sounds all together (you want it to sound good when they read the whole thing in front of...

+1 for Brewmaster's Warehouse Customer Service

I've ordered couple of times from brewmasterswarehouse and must say they have the best customer service I've come across in all my home-brewing affairs. Let me tell you why I feel this way. They offer inexpensive flat rate shipping, 6.99 on most orders. (For us east-coast folks that means...

Ever get your shirt-tail hung on your tap handle?

So yesterday was a snow day. We don't get too many of those in southern VA, so I thought I would take advantage of the opportunity and brew a cream ale, (maybe I should have gone with a winter warmer). Everything was going great, hit my mash temp, boil volume gravity was spot on, caught up on...

I need a recipe, I've got hop cones my first year...

I planted two hop rhizomes this year, one goldings, the other cascade. Although the goldings is 12 ft high there were no blooms and thus no cones. The cascade on the other hand, is 15 ft tall and covered with cones now. I need a good recipe to honor the grand occasion of my first hop...

    Brotherhood Beer

With an invitation on the table, to Harvard professor Henry Gates and Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley, to visit the White house and have a BEER with President Obama, I wondered if any of you folks had any plans to brew up a special batch for this wondrous occasion. :mug:

Do I need a fan in my keezer?

Well fellas, I think I might have found my problem... I poured a few pints this evening and noticed that a lot of co2 is forming in my line after the pour. At first I thought this might be normal but then I noticed that it had not happened to the other keg, there is only beer in that line and I...

Do I need a fan in my keezer?

Well, I put a fan in the keezer this morning. Now the temp in the top, at the collar, and the temp in the bottom are both the same. I Have new problems though. Now both the collar and the faucets are sweating (I didn't insulate the collar). The lines are defiantly cold now but it hasn't...

    USED Bottle Label Glue Removal

Sierra Nevada are some of easiest labels I've ever removed. Soaked in hot diluted PBW (Powdered Brewers Wash) for an hour and the labels fall off. The glue is easily rubbed off with scotch bright kitchen sponge. Some labels are harder to get off than others but the thread mentioned above will...

How long does it take chill haze to drop out at fridge temp?

I've got a batch of "Two Hearted Ale" clone that weighs in at 1.064 OG 1.007 FG. I mashed @ 150 for 75 min, boiled for 90 min, chilled to 72 degrees and pitched a starter I made after harvesting the yeast of a Bell's Two Hearted Ale sixer. I fermented for 7 days then dry hopped in the primary...

Don't dump spent grains down garbage disposal

Don't try putting whole hops in there either... did that back a few months ago when i was rising out my secondary after dry hopping, stopped it up real good, had to take out the p trap and reset the overload switch. I thought I had burned it up to start with, but definitely learned my lesson.
