    Micro-Brewery

your allowed to produce a fair few gallons before you have to apply for a license, however our microbreweries are tiny compared to you guys because your full sized breweries make ours look like tiny start ups

    Cold crash

Hey BryceL Thanks for the heads up, I see what you mean by "putting it to sleep" I was angling from the scientific point of view that due to lower resperation you would have less divisions so when the yeast cells started dying out you would have less division to replace it. But thanks I...

    Describe your ideal fermentation/serving chamber

You can create different environments really easily with small appliances and insulating jackets. Personaly I would use a stud wall to seperate my brewing area and then build a mock bar with a country feel and just make it a bit of a pub for your mates. I guarantee you will be everyones best friend.

How do I open this plastic beer keg?

push on the black rubber the a pair of pliers, when it stops hissing you need to pull the seal out, once the seal is off you can turn the spear and drop it into the barrel then you can unscrew the cap, then you can reassemble the unit for reuse

    Cold crash

a cold crash is when you drop the temperature of your brew so the yeast slows its rate of respiration and slows its rate of multiplication therefore the rate of death surpasses the rate of division so in essence you kill off your yeast without using artificial additives. You should do it if you...

Hey guys I'm a lovable British student and I'm doing a degree in biotechnology and have taken a special interest in brewing (student loans just dont stretch that far) So I have decided to set up a private micro-brewery in my backroom, has anybody else attempted to build a 4 barrel system...
