    Ball lock liquid disconnect reliability

I had this problem the first time I dry hopped and some escaped. I use pin locks and am not sure if this would work with ball locks but I swapped the posts. With the liquid post now on the gas in and vice versa I turned the keg sideways and was able to draft beer until it was empty.

    Fruitflies....ugh

I had them bad this past summer. Made several soda/water bottle traps similar to what is posted here and caught flies.. I didn't get rid of them until I started dumping a bit of bleach in the floor drain in my basement where I brew every two or three days. That did it, within two weeks they...

Electric Element Housing - Safety Question

If I understand you correctly the breaker would trip once the fluid short circuited the power terminals.

confused over german HB advice vs american HB techniques

I respectfully submit the following, including these three bits of advice: 1-Start with a kit! 2-Start with a kit!! 3-Start with a kit!!! A metaphor: When we learn to walk all of us started as an infant worming and rolling around initially, followed by learning how to crawl. Around this...

    Banana Wine

I made a 6 gallon batch of this last week. Ended up with about 5.9 gallons of must in the primary at an OG of 1.122. Pitched the wine yeast on September 23 and as of last night the SG was at 1.011 and it still tasted quite sweet I don't remember the exact Lalvin wine yeast I used but I seem to...

    How to read the Hydrometer

You are correct that 1.010 is greater than 1.008. According to what you quoted you do not need to wait until it reaches 1.007, if it is AT 1.008 OR lower for two days it is ready.

Solid stopper in carboy for dry hop

I've only dry hopped a handfull of times but on every one I had what I considered a "secondary fermentation" after dry hopping! I don't know if that is the right term for it but the beer developed a small krausen on top of the (initially) floating hops.

New to Kegging annnddd... (NewB Questions)

A 5 Lb. bottle is not very tall and a short fall like that probably did not damage the regulator, but you should secure the bottle! As to your other issue, im not sure I understand what's occurring.

Serving from a keg on its side

With pin lock cornies, this can definitely be done but there probably will be clarity issues with your beer. First time I dry hopped in a keg some of the hops pellets leaked and clogged up the liquid out pickup tube when I tapped it. I was at a beach party when it happened and I ended up...
