Close to bottling. Did I mess up?

Great! One last simple thing. Can I pour back in the sample beer that I would be using to test with the meter?

Close to bottling. Did I mess up?

The recipe called for 6.6lb Premier Gold Liquid and 1lb of Gold Dry; Northwestern. Through the calculator it is estimated to have had an OG of 1.058. Which means my ABV is roughly 6.69%. Now, in order to know if FG has been reached is to check if the reading has not changed over a certain...

Close to bottling. Did I mess up?

Bummer. What is the significance of the number 131.25?

Close to bottling. Did I mess up?

Awesome thank you both. I had never taken the OG so has the opportunity passed?

Close to bottling. Did I mess up?

Thank you all very much. I am a lot more optimistic reading everyone's input. I just did a reading for the fun of it. The hydrometer is reading BRIX 2.5, Sp.Gn 7.5, and Approximate Potential Alcohol 1%. All of these readings are in the green part labeled Beer: Finish. What some of you are...

Close to bottling. Did I mess up?

Unfortunately, I did not take a reading pre-yeast. The foam is from the sanitizer. I had already transferred it to the carboy, as in the second picture I posted, so should I just leave it in the secondary until it clears up? Am I screwed here?

Close to bottling. Did I mess up?

Alright so, I'm a week away from bottling and I'm a little concerned in the looks of the beer so far. Before brewing I searched on here and I talked to a local brew store owner. He told me to keep in the original fermentation container for about 2-3 weeks, transfer to a carboy for 1 week, then...

    Ingredient question

Libby's Easy Pumpkin Pie Mix. Ingredients are: Pumpkin, sugar syrup, water, natural flavors, salt, and spices. Would that be OK? I'll see if I can find some puree some where. If I can't, how much spice would you recommend?

    Ingredient question

So I have a pumpkin recipe that I'm going to try out tomorrow. This will be my first brew. I have a quick question. It calls for 30oz of canned pumpkin. I picked up a can of Easy Pumpkin pie mix. Will that work? Also, I was suggested to bake the mix then add to a muslin bag and boil in wort...

    First brew - few questions

Yeah I've been googling and it seems pretty split

    First brew - few questions

Perfect, I had actually picked up a paint strainer yesterday since I couldn't find any muslin bags. Problem. I can't seem to get my pot to a roiling boil without it being covered. It's boiling but it's not an intense boil. Is this still OK or should I find another pot and boil 3gals in each and...

    Aluminum pot question

Ah damn OK. I can't seem to get it at a rolling boil without having it covered. Maybe I need to wait longer

    Aluminum pot question

Quick question. I have an electric stove. I can get my pot to a boil covered fairly quickly. Can I boil my wort with the pot covered or no? When I pull the cover, it stays at a very slow boil

    Aluminum pot question

OK great, thank you very much. The pot has been used and I'm not worried about denting it or anything like that. I was just worried what cleaning product I could use and what I couldn't. Do I need to sanitize it or will simply boiling wort be good enough?

    Aluminum pot question

I'm borrowing an aluminum pot from the restaurant that I work at. This pot is used to make pasta sauce. The inside of the pot is fairly chipped up from being used. I was wondering what I could use to clean and sanitize this pot. I've heard some cleaners can not be used in aluminum pots and could...

Fantastic! Thank you all for the advice. I'm sure I'll be back looking for more advice

    First brew - few questions

Rodwha - so you're saying after 7 days in the water bath that I should take it out or keep it in there the full time until bottling? Neutron - after baked would you add right into the boiling pot or add to a muslin bag then add it as a previous poster recommended? What's the purpose of the...

    First brew - few questions

Alright great. How long would you say it takes to achieve the temp I want in the water bath before adding the bucket to it? In addition, what temp would you recommend for this pumpkin ale? Lastly, after a week you recommend taking it out of the water bath and just keep it in my spare room at...

    First brew - few questions

Oh I'm sorry, I meant for a more indepth explanation for the storage of the fermentation bucket to keep it at an appropriate temperature
