Funny things you've overheard about beer

A little off topic, but the old Schmidt Brewery in St. Paul, MN is being converted to artist lofts, and since SWMBO skews toward the creative side, we might be looking at living in a brewery. Sweet.

I just have to brag a little.

I've been wanting to get into kegging for quite a while, but I just couldn't justify the price. But man, did my stars align yesterday. Via Craigslist, 2 kegs for $20 each and a 5lb CO2 tank for $5 Craigslist total: $45 Via LHBS: new O rings, gas lines, beer lines, regulator, splitter and extra...

jeep wrangler owners lets see your rigs!

I've got a '97 Sport. It's just nothing special. She's got upgraded tires, aluminum wheels, the inside is coated in a truck bed liner, and the seats have neoprene covers. Other than that, she's stock. So nothing to exciting. Love her to death though.

    Electrically Challenged

So, I have decided that I'm sick of buying yeast for every batch, so I'm building a stir plate. However, after a trip to my local surplus store, I realized that the minimal electrical training I had in college has all but disappeared. So, I ended up leaving the surplus store with a fan...

How much do you pay for bottles?

I don't pay anything. I just take a late night walk a few blocks from my house on recycling night. Came back with 55 on my last haul. No cops called, yet!

You know you're a home brewer when?

You wander the streets of your neighborhood at 11:30pm on recycling day looking for long necks.

    Must try beers in Minnesota?

From a St. Paul resident, Flat earth is a great local micro. A lot of good stuff. Just had a Saga on Monday. That's amazing. I'm not a huge fan of the EPA. But any of their unchained series is very good. The Lake Superior stout is one of my favorites. You already have surly. Furious is...

    My Friday Project

A sheet or two of 1/4" plywood, some lathe board, a finishing nailer, chalk board paint, a couple ratchet straps, and a cache of new bottles from Craigslist. This is the final result. I feel accomplished.
