BrewMasters Warehouse (now, rising from the ashes!)

I have placed many orders with them and they have always been great. If it's been more than 4-5 days I'd call and check on it or email. They've always responded within the same day.

    LHBS or On Line Retailer

I go to Homebrew Shop in olathe for yeast and grains if I'm wanting to brew that day. To be honest some stuff is alot cheaper there than ordering online and some is way overpriced. I do both oline and local..there's just somethings I can't get there..like Perlicks, acidulated malt, etc. bulk...

    mash temp

I'll fill it half way with a mix of boiling water and hot tap. Personally, I like to get mine in the 160-165 range and I just leave it in there until my mash water temp is near where I want it then leave the lid closed and start draining the preheat water.

    pH meter questions

I've never used Milwaukee PH meter for brewing but I used to have one for a Calcium reactor for reef tank and I went through 2 probes when meter was brand new before the 3rd one was good. Maybe it is a defective probe. Here is contact info: Milwaukee Instruments, Inc. 2950 Business Park...

    Beer is sour after fermenting

I've been experiencing this also on 40% of my batches. I've changed out buckets to glass carboys, replaced siphon (stainless), all plastic tubing gets replaced every 3 batchs, soak kegs/bottles/fermenter in bleach after oxycleaning, then on day of use starsan. so I know the frustration all too...

all grain with an electric stove?

I have a propane turkey frier but find I rarely use it just for convience. It does take a while to get a boil going with 6-7 gallons but I can get it to boil on my electric stove. I use the lid to get it to a near boil then leave off for the rest of the boil duration.

Anybody accidently use Black patent instead of the black barley like I just did? If so was it drinkable?

Barley Crusher: So how long did you have to wait for it to arrive?

Mine was waiting on my doorstep today..I was planning on waiting a couple weeks and it took a little longer but I can't say my experience was negative, of course I didn't wait as long as some of you though and the email thing would make me upset. I like it though...worth the wait as far as I'm...

    electric vs charcoal smoker

not to sound like a Weber fan boy, I have no problem maintaining temp on my WSM. On longer cooks (depends on conditions of course)I've never had to refuel even on long brisket cooks (minion method). I had the red Brinkman Electric for several years prior and be it my technique or equipment but I...

    Kansas City, KS water report

I'd say try it out and treat it with 1/2 campden tablet per 5 gallons of water. I just add it to my pots as my water is heating up. make a small batch like you're talking about and see how it turns out.
