    Wife broke my hydrometer....

not sure how much they are at you LBHS but at mine they're 5 bucks for a triple scale. Moments after buying my first one i took it out to look at it, then went to grab a few beer bottles with the same hand. I'm not sure why I thought this would work but the end result was a broken hydrometer, a...

    Corny that won't come clean

You probably got a keg that was used for root beer. They can be a PITA to clean. I use Mcd Sanitizer. You can't buy it but you can get it from someone who works at McDonald's. Just be careful what you use as some cleaners corrode stainless steel.

    Sorghum or Molasses????

I just read that sorghum is used as a gluten free alternative in beer to replace malt so i could use it in its place. I think ill try it. It's sort of like LME. There's a sorghum farm near by and i can get the stuff for 6 bucks a gallon. Should make a good experiment :D

New member with very annoying (probably to you) questions

Yep, its called hopped malt extract. My Local Home Brew Supply sells it for around 15 bucks depending on the type. Just boil water, add hopped malt, wait for it to cool, put it in a fermentor, add a $1 packet of munton ale yeast, and wait.

    new to grow, please help

You cannot control its growing indoors. If you try to start indoors to early it will grow out of control and you will screw up the plants natural clock that tells it when to go dormant, when to grow, and when to produce flowers. Like previous members have stated, you cannot buy the rhizomes...

    Scuba's Herms Build!

You can also use engine enamel. We sell it at work and it is made to withstand the heat incurred by red hot headers so i dont think a propane burner is gonna be a problem. You have alot more colors to choose from as well.

Does anyone malt their own barley?

I make my own wheat malt. It's really very simple if you know what you're doing. I have pictures posted of all the different stages and processes on my profile. I buy the wheat at my local feed store. I can buy a 50 pound bag for $7.00. Just make absolutely certain you buy NON-TREATED GRAIN...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Just put my first 5 gallons in the carboy. Looking forward to it! Btw, I bought 5 gallons of Kroger brand natural apple juice in two quart bottles at Kroger. They were 10 for 10 so if you have a local Kroger see if they're offering the same deal. 5 Gallons of apple juice = $10.00 2 Pounds of...

    Brewing a Fruit Beer-few questions

A coffee grinder would be the easiest but if you do not have one you have a few different options. You could use a mortar and pestle like they did in the olde days. You could also use a rolling pin however this isn't very efficient. Probably the least labor intensive option though would be to...

    Cornies and Firestones??

Thanks guys. This helps me quite a bit. Also, I was browsing the other day looking to buy some more kegs and ran into anther brand. Spartanburg kegs? has anyone heard of these before? The lid and disconnects look the same but it is all stainless and looks more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion.
