If this is only occurring on IPAs, look at what's different in your process. Perhaps how you dry hop is somehow leading to the gushers?

Did a 5g batch of a light blonde ale for my BMC drinking father in law that will be arriving in a couple month. OG was only 1.035.

What would happen if I were to use say 1 lb. of malto dextrin in a 5g batch of cider? You think it'd be gross?

I only use canned pumpkin, but I also cook it similar to your suggestion and haven't seen any downsides.

What's considered "traditional" anymore? If you're curious I say go for it & experiment then report back whether you though it was a good idea or not. I've had some hoppy wheat beers I've loved.
