    Whirlpooling with Immersion Chiller?

Duh. I'm so used to my setup with the input on top of the kettle with a silicone hose running to the inside bottom of the kettle I didn't think of the return being so low. Is the one pickup with the cap the out or the in? The reason is I'm asking is I get a lot of trub in my center mounted...

Beer won't stop fermenting, take it off the dry hop?

It will be fine. My guess is this is occuring with whole hops and not pellets? Sometimes when you dry hop with whole hops you'll get foaming from the CO2 release. It gets caught up in the hops.

I seriously suck at fly sparging

I also read raking the top of the grain bed will give better efficiency as well.

I seriously suck at fly sparging

Bobby, I have a direct fired sanke keg RIMS with two pumps. I currently don't have a sparge arm. I use a piece of foil on top of the grain bed and dribble water onto the foil during the sparge. I haven't been making holes in the foil, I wonder if I'm channeling. I'll try perforating the foil...

I seriously suck at fly sparging

Bobby, I am in the same boat you are. I starting to fly sparge a few batches ago as well. Why, because I can. I want to figure what process I like better. I have efficiencies ranging from 65 to 90% fly sparging. a couple things to watch: Sparge for 60 minutes but don't over oversparge by...

First mead - what should I make?

I have a gallon (12 lbs) of orange blossom honey. I have 10# frozen sour cherries, 5# frozen blueberries, but I'm open to any recipe. I also have plenty of nutrient and I can add nutrient during fermentation. Looking for a suggestion/recipe. SWMBO likes sweet wines or sour beers. What should I...

first AG batch was a disaster!!

This was a good recommendation. As for the clogged ball valve, you can always siphon off instead of draining. I take a hydrometer reading at first runnings, then preboil, then post boil. You can make an adjustment at either of those times once you learn your system.
