    Sealing your panel

Just about done building my electric brew panel. Is it necessary to seal each component that goes through a wall or door with silicone? Curious if everyone did or not.

Did you get 12v or 24v motors?

Vermont $55 Swagelok Stainless 3 PIECE 60 SERIES BALL VALVE 3/4" Compression fitting ends

I have 2 used: 3 piece Stainless Swagelok SS-63TS12 SS ball valves. They have 3/4" compression style fittings on both ends. They have been boiled recently to ensure they are clean. I have the nuts and both ferrules for all the ends. 1 set is shown, but each valve will come with 2 sets. I'd like...

    Cheap compact wort pump

Ya, but this way they don't get any sticky wort down in there. They were only a couple bucks from China too.

    Cheap compact wort pump

Ebay, search "5pairs 2pin waterproof" just like that, spacing and everything. I have a 1/2 npt die I ran over the threads to cut them better for 1/2" but don't think you need to. I to got my cam from ebay.

    Cheap compact wort pump

I have 2 of these 24v pumps. I connect them direct to my ball valves via camlocks. Using 1 to whirlpool has cut my immersion chiller cooling time way way down. I am converting over to electric brewery so am going to use them to recirc my HLT water and whirlpool my wort when chilling. I have a...

    Cheap compact wort pump

I also went with the 24v versions with PWM to control speed/flow.

    Cheap compact wort pump

I plan to use mine mounted directly to my keggle's output valve via Cam locks. Like this pic (but not threaded direct to the valve). Mostly going to start out using mine to transfer water from my HLT to my mash tun. Then use a 2nd one hooked to a whirlpool arm to help cool my wort with my...

    Cheap compact wort pump

I am guessing something similar in costs to mine: Pump $17.31: http://www.ebay.com/itm/361163382356?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=630516827839&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT PWM $8.55...

    $50 Dedicated HERMS

I think I can use this PID controller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-PID-Temperature-Control-40A-SSR-1M-K-Thermocouple-Probe-Heat-Sink-/311420798123?hash=item48822044ab:g:-yMAAOSwJcZWcnYM&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true To control an outlet that I would then plug in my 1500W Hot Rod Heat Stick (that I...

    Cheap compact wort pump

Got a pic of the inside? Trying to figure out how you got the 'in' and 'out' on the same side of that little box. Since the pump has them in a 'L' configuration.

How Do You Dry-Hop/Carb Your Kegged IPAs?

The string is to keep the bag suspended off the bottom. If you let it drop to the bottom it can interfere with the pickup tube.

    Cheap compact wort pump

I can see how it would be useful with a RIMS set up. But not without. I have a Hot Rod Heat Stick, but I wouldn't use that in the mash as I doubt it would spread the heat out correctly. Already starting to look at brew stands I can weld up this summer. Do I got Brutus 10 propane or look into...

    Cheap compact wort pump

I picked up 2 of the 24v pumps. I welded up my own 3 tier gravity stand system, so this is my cheap way to start to get used to using pumps before going to a chugger/march. When I save up that much money I will weld up a single tier stand. I am planning to use one with a PWM as a whirlpooling...

Water Water everywhere.. Beginner water help

Ya, didn't put much weight to the award. But is nice to know my water is good for drinking. How, other than trial and error does one know what their tolerance for sulfate is? I tried the bru'n water website, but my report doesn't state some of what they ask for and I couldn't figure out the...

Water Water everywhere.. Beginner water help

Ok, I have 3 all grain batches under my belt. My water supplier has this to say: "Champlain Water District was the first water supplier in the nation to receive the "Excellence in Water Treatment Award" for completion of all four phases of the Partnership for Safe Water Program. This year’s...

Welded that last brace at the end of the mash tun arms. All good now, nothing moving. :)

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

I also thought of that, my brew partner (father) talked me out of it. I did try to spread them apart but they didn't seem to budge. They are recessed into the angle iron of the uprights. It won't take much to weld on a strap between the 2 underneath at the end though. Err on the side of safety...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Finished welding up my sculpture this past weekend and broke it's Cherry on Sat. and again on Sunday. I made this out of 2 bed frames and donor steel from a wall bracket from some pump-jacks. The 2 small out riggers in the middle of the base (added tip over protection that isn't really needed)...
