    Janet's Brown (Brewing Classic Styles)

Good to hear the praises of this recipe. It's on my list of recipes to try. Now I think I'll move it to the top of that list!

    Cut 'em down?

Thanks for the reply... will do!

    sanke spear mash paddle.

Haha! That's a pretty good idea! How does the paddle portion of it feel... seem like it's sturdy enough to last a while? Heck, even if it's not... the price is right.

    Interesting find

Holy crap, good find!! :ban: Way to stumble into something awesome... now to make sure no one else comes to start picking them clean before you can.

    Cut 'em down?

I just finished picking all the cones from my first year plants (I have a setup which allowed me to lower the ropes and pick all my cones without tearing down the plants themselves) and I'm wondering... Should I cut the bines down now or leave them alone to further establish the roots? We...

    Homebrew Stores in Cleveland/Youngstown/Pittsburgh?

Another vote for Grape and Granary. Good amount of stuff there. As others have mentioned... Great Lakes Brewing has some excellent beers and free tours of the brewery if you sign up on their website before going. The tour is only about an hour and includes a 'sampling'... bring quarters! I...

Hop Processing at Rising Sun Farms Paonia Co

Loved the video, very cool! I guess since I bought my rhizomes from you, those are like the long lost relatives to my hops. I can see the resemblance! OK, not really.:cross:

    First Year Cascades

Thanks, guys! Especially you, Glen... after all, they're your product! :) Nugget is now full of burs as well, and the Willamette is now all the sudden going through a growth spurt as well.

    First Year Cascades

I took these pictures last night. I didn't get the rhizomes in the ground until May, but they're coming along nicely. Bought the rhizomes from Hopfarmer. I'm excited!

OK, thanks for the tip, Bobby! I'll head back to Home Depot and see what I can come up with :)

how to distinguish different typs of hops

Fat Heads has a few growing out front (well the parking lot side) that were doing quite well the last time I was there, which was about a month ago. I tried their smoked porter when I was there... heavenly! My wife said it was like drinking bacon. I fail to see a problem with that.

    building a manifold

I was about to ask this same question when I saw this thread. Thanks for the information! I've read that spacing is typically about every 1/2". Is that correct? Here's a picture just like the manifold I made for a 52 quart Coleman Xtreme. Got the picture and idea from another post...

    New Hop Grower in Ohio

Congrats! I'm in your area, and this is my first year growing them as well. My Cascade has cones forming but the Nugget and Willamette are lagging behind. Good luck on your girls!

It's not at Fat Head's, is it?

So I'm committed. What do you think? any changes?

That sounds like it will be beautiful once it's finished. Be sure to post pics when it's all done, I'm very interested in seeing the finished product! It would be neat if the log could be from the bottom of a tree, right where it spreads out for the roots. It would give it the feeling of a...

    Japanese Beetle Report

To date, I've had 2 leaves from my Cascades fall victim to the beetles. For some reason, they haven't come back since I crushed those few buggers that I caught in the act. Not that I'm complaining! Last year I had to rip my pole beans out of the garden because there were literally hundreds of...
