    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

I've never seen bottles of Ruination that had much sediment in them. I've seem some of their "regular" IPA with a good amount. I was planning to try scavenging some from a few of those bombers.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I called my wife at 3pm yesterday and asked her to check my beer. "Tell me if the airlock is bubbling or if there are any bubbles at least on the top of the wort"....She told me there was a thin layer of small fine bubbles on the wort. Got home at 7:45 and the head space in the 6.5g carboy was...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Did you use the BRY-97 also? This is my first time with this yeast. I have always gone with -05 in the past. I have no experience with this yeast at all. Usually with the -05, the bugs are doing their thing in about 12 hours, or there is at least a layer of foam forming in spots on the...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Brewed this yesterday. Everything went great. Hit the OG right on 1.040, but for some reason every time I brew this one I end up with very low volume in the carboy. Went with Danstar BRY-97 this time. Pitched at noon yesterday and not one bubble yet. Kinda wondering....

    A Cajun in Minneapolis...

In Minnesota? How the hell does a Cajun survive those winters? Anyway...Hello and welcome!

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

According to my notes, the pre-boil OG should have been 1.035. That's not far off from 1.030 if you were taking a reading hot. Even if you let it cool to about 95-100F, you'd still be looking at a correction of about .005 which puts you spot on. If you took that reading right out of the mash...

    Starsan Bottle Issue

Thus is kinda what I was worried about, potency loss. Will try a soda bottle top.

    Starsan Bottle Issue

Am I the only one who has experienced failures with the cap on the Starsan bottles? I'm talking about the bottles that let you squeeze the dosage amount up into the upper section. The screw on caps on he last two bottles have cracked all around the top rendering them useless.

Just got the new "Cereal Killer" Grain Mill

Would like to eventually motorize my mill also. I noticed you said you "geared" it to run at about 200rpm. Is that considered a good speed for milling? I have no clue. I use my cordless drill on the "driver" speed. Thanks

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Just curious...Where did you purchase from at that cost? That price includes all ingredient minus the yeast?

Big welcome to the Smoking Gunn....got lots of fellow brewers just on the other side of the river.

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

I have read that you can. I have thought about giving a shot. I'm thinking that harvesting from the "regular" IPA might be best though. I've seen a few bombers in a local store that look to have a nice layer in the bottom.

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

I actually used WLP001 for mine. My starter is no larger than a liter, usually smaller and it takes off in about 6 hours. Personally o don't think you really want more than about 80%....You want to leave SOME malt flavor.

Just got the new "Cereal Killer" Grain Mill

I use an 18v because I had one. I would bet that a 14 would work fine. If you want to save money, Harbor Freight sells some cheap corded ones.

Just got the new "Cereal Killer" Grain Mill

I had that same exact thing happen to me. Panic set in, then frustration, THEN I realized my drill was spinning in reverse.

    Not-So-Obnoxious Baseball Thread

Yeh, you don't send a very questionable runner in a 0-0 game that early. Maybe down by 3 or 4 in the middle innings, you take that chance. Early scores set the mode of the game and you gotta be certain. Lead off batter in that situation you send him. Guy who runs a 7 second 40....?

    old hobbies

I'm into the rocket scene also....As for D size being too small, these days you can buy much larger than that. My club launches M and L powered birds on a regular basis. Of course, you need certification and a properly sized launch site for those. I've got a stash of unbuilt kits I was...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer None More Black Vanilla Stout

I'd definitely give it a shot on the 1056 yeast cake......better have a blowoff tube though unless you like cleaning.
