How much do you pay for a CO2 tank? Refill?

yup, I have a 3 keg setup and 2 of the kegs are 2.5 gal so I shouldn't need to get this filled often.

How much do you pay for a CO2 tank? Refill?

I called some places in OKC today and found one that says they refill a 20# tank for $10. Another quoted me $12 for the same fill. Sounds too good to be true so I'm bringing my tank there today!!

    Funky saison questions????

To get decent sourness from just acid malt it needs to be at least 10% of the grist. You'd prolly be better off doing a 15-25% sour mash and using that to sour the beer.

Advice on directin for a good first sour...

I'm no expert but I'd recommend a berliner weiss. A few of the online homebrew stores still have the Wyeast 3191 BW yeast/bacteria in stock and that makes it pretty easy. Another option is to do a simple extract brew with 1/2 light and 1/2 wheat DME and some malto dextrin and use the...

    Kegging Sours

I'm sure this is the best route but I don't have space or money for extra kegs to devote to sours. I spent almost everything I had just to get the 3 kegs and equipment I have now. Kegs are stainless steel and should be easy to sanitize with boiling water and PBW or other cleaner.

    Kegging Sours

ok, I've done some reading on other forums and blogs and it seems we would be ok to keg sours. Most have dedicated taps or cobra taps and a few have dedicated kegs. Kegs are stainless and can be cleaned and sanitized pretty easily and the bugs can be killed by boiling the poppets, QDs, and...

    Kegging Sours

What about for those of us who can't afford this or don't have room or enough taps to do this? I'll have at most 3 taps and will likely have one sour ready to drink at any one time. Since you've kegged sours, anything you can give us as far as info would be great!!

    Kegging Sours

Any issues I need to be on the lookout for? I figure as long as the kegs, lines and taps get a good cleaning when I kick a keg I shouldn't have any issues right? I'd prolly use the same keg and tap for sours and likely won't have more than one on tap at a time (3 taps total). Thanks!!

    High Pressure Regulator Hose

Looking for a hose that will allow me to remote mount my regulator away from the CO2 tank. I've seen them online but I'm not ready to pay $60 if someone here has one they aren't using. Thanks!! Would like to pay around $40 shipped but let me know what you got.

    Sour Mash Process Check

awesome, thanks everyone!! I feel like I have a good handle on this now. ReverseApacheMaster - I'm going to use your method the first time. I have some 1 gallon glass jugs with caps or airlocks so I plan to use those. I do 3 gallon batches so that would be 1/4 of the wort before I boil (boil...

    Sour Mash Process Check

tell me more about the sour wort process, that seems like what I'm really going for. Should I expect 20% sort wort for 48 hours to give a good bite or does it need more/less time and percentage than a normal sour mash? And do you just add it back in to the normal wort after mashing and boil...

    Sour Mash Process Check

so you say you mashed, cooled and added whole grain to the mash - did you pull the grains you mashed with and added whole grain to the wort or you left all the grains there and added whole grains on top of that?

    Sour Mash Process Check

Ok, I'm planning on doing a sour mash for my upcoming Gose and want to make sure I have the process right. Recipe - 3 gallons 3# Wheat Malt 2# German Pils 2# Acid Malt 2 days before brewday: Take 20% of malt bill and mash normally. My plan is to do a 60 min mash with 1 qt of water per pound...

    Wash yeast or no?

Well, I'm not using the white labs blend, it was the Wyeast 3191PC blend. It does have some sacc. I also pitched pure lacto and let it sit for a week with just that and then I went with the 3191. It's been going for 3 weeks now and was at 1.010 when I checked it the other day. I have no...

    Best place for keg kits?

I'd go with kegconnection.com. I made a custom order with them yesterday and it shipped the same day and will be here today!! I spent weeks comparing prices and their deals couldn't be beat. I also like the ability to upgrade certain parts of the system - like a dual regulator and upgrading...

    Wash yeast or no?

So I'm using some 3191PC yeast in a berliner weiss right now and the plan is to pitch a Gose on the cake. I got a lot of break material and trub in the BW so I'd really like to wash the yeast to clean it up a bit for the gose. I just wonder how well this would work with yeast/lacto/brett and...
