    A boa in my hops!!

Wow. Love your hops, love your snek. Any good insect or arachnids patrolling the vines? The folks at reddit r/thehopyard would love these too!

You know you're a home brewer when?

Well? Inquiring minds want to know! Hope you find some inspiration soon....

    What are you drinking now?

Our Velvet Fog wine. Welches grape and aronia wine. Pitched almost two years ago on Sept 13, what would have been Mel Torme's 90th bday. Actually not bad at all. As opposed to Mr. Torme, who was awesome indeed.

What brew do you have plans for?

Our standard pale ale recipe, which we love, and use to test hops and combos thereof. Planning on a Citra Amarillo combo for this one!

    Don't Do That.

Wouldn't it be a problem, even with a check valve on each input, that the input with the higher pressure would prevent the input with the lower pressure from ever filling in? Unless you turn off the co2, (edit: open the prv,) turn on the water to fill the tank, shut off the water, then turned on...

Homebrew Supply Mail Order Companies that Haven't Been Bought Up?

Ritebrew.com in Wisconsin is my go-to. Their selection is more limited but if they have it, it's close to best price. Shipping is very reasonable here to our place in NE IA

    What are you drinking now?

HB 2 hearted clone, sorry it's too dark for pix. YUM. While watching 'Last Week Tonight' about the mooch and Alex Jones. HWMO is now rewatching GoT...a contrast in media experience.

    When to refrigerate bottles?

Yep as Lefou says, they do fill back out. Don't leave too much headspace, sort of like a regular glass bottle. Our Russian Imperial Stout (Tootin' Putin!) at about 10% took quite a bit longer to carb up, but it helped to track its progress without opening a bottle every two weeks....

    When to refrigerate bottles?

We use the soda bottle trick, fill one sanitized plastic soda bottle with primed beer and cap it tightly. We usually squeeze all the air out of head space so there's no problem with oxidation. You can tell how carbed it is by how firm the bottle gets. We have had big beers take much longer to...

    Don't Do That.

Hell, we'd never eat anything but pb&j if we followed that advice. Ps the wine got bottled today, yay!

    Don't Do That.

Thanks for asking! It's an old problem, helped by ice packs, ibuprofen and alternating rest and movement (none of which involves lifting things!) And muscle relaxers in the form of homebrew! The wine will not get done for a few days... But it will be fine!

    Don't Do That.

Throw your back out cleaning up after kegging your brew. I was outside watering the garden with the yeasty hoppy yummy smelling sludge, and Whammo! Only second time in my life I almost passed out from pain. :( To top it off, this was to make room for bottling the nice wine this afternoon...

    Crabapple trees in texas

Apples need chill hours and can be tricky to grow in the south. I assume it's a consideration for crabs too. Suggest you determine your chill hours and make sure that the varieties you choose are compatible...

    Ferm chamber

We are just finishing up the second batch in a 7 gal fermonster, and love the ease of cleanup. No issue with blowoff, altho I am planning on rigging a blowoff tube if we make a bigger beer. Used a 3 piece bubbler which just fits in height-wise. We have a small freezer, with wood slats on the...

    What are you drinking now?

Kicked the CCC IPA keg, working on a lighter amber HB ale. Bells IPA style is a week away from kegging, but about to pitch into a split PA. Half hopped with El Dorado, half with Sterling. Hop test ! Hoping for auroras but the earth's mag field may not be cooperating.....

How many gallons of homebrew in 2017?

+ 5 pale ale, split into two fermenters to taste test two hops, El Dorado and Sterling. =6436

What did I cook this weekend.....

Gurgle love sweet corn but here in Ioway (where the tall corn grows) we haven't had any yet. We did make a lamb chop roast, coated in herbs, yesterday. And beef fajitas tonight. Sorry, no pix....

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

Crop rotation by family might help - don't replant the same family in the same place for several years. This is a problem if limited in space. Also note that potatoes share some of the same issues. Peppers are less susceptible to a lot of diseases, but I don't know if you want to keep them...
