    What are you drinking now?

    First a Tropical Torpedo, now a Bell's 2 hearted.

    What are you drinking now?

HB IPA. HWMO is downstairs, probably pouring the last of our CCC IPA (Cascade, Citra, Centennial, maybe we'll call it the 300 beer!) (He just came back, keg is still not kicked, goddess knows if we'll get another!) This has been a great beer.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Just about kicked the IPA keg, with an amber ale still mid-stride, and a Bells two hearted style IPA in the fermenter, to keg in a week or less. Soooo going to do our pale ale, minus a pound of 2-row to make it a bit lighter, using mostly Cascade. I have an ounce of El Dorado, it will be the...

    What are you drinking now?

A repeat of a Belgian Trippel but using Safbrew Abbaye yeast (brewed 1 Jan this year) instead of T-58. We still have like one of the latter around, 21 months old... This newer one is a lot drier. Less Banana-y. But still a drinkable beer. Probably would not use the Abbaye again, probably do an...

Ripped grain bag arrived in shipment

Not crushed before delivery? No problem.

    Don't Do That.

Besides the issue of freezing, I am not fond of steamy water spitting out at me when I dunk the cooler in the hot boiling wort. So far, doing the upside-down twirl round and round thing works pretty well, seeing as I am too lazy to trot 100ft to the barn where the compressor is.

    What are you drinking now?

Of the meeting, the fishing, or the beer? The first is available online. The second, no pix, we caught one bluegill, many bass, one sheepshead, and one yellow perch. And some snags, a clamshell, and lots of bait stolen, so who knows. The perch was a little sautéed starter, with shrimp on the...

    What are you drinking now?

In honor of the Great Orange One's meeting with the Czar of Russia, we broke open two bottles of our Tootin' Putin RIS. Over 6 months old, it is a nice way to end a day of boating and fishing on the Mighty Mississippi. Cheers!

    What are you drinking now?

MMM homebrew Centennial, Citra, Cascade IPA. Prolly the same thing I was drinking the last time I checked in on this thread. It's getting to the really really nom nom nom stage, like we're gonna wish we did 10 gal instead of 5 gal, because even though we're trying not to schnorck it down too...

What did I cook this weekend.....

We had the big end of a beef tenderloin frozen since Xmas. Did a loverly beef stroganoff last night with part of it, and a herb encrusted roast of the biggest end tonight (with baked potato and fresh asparagus.) MMmmmmm beefy goodness.

    Official Broken Hydrometer Count

Dayum, not sure I can say the same.... We're not going to ask the Peanut Gallery about the heart count, but considering I'm only one hydrometer down in in 58 years, I'm hoping that's the lesser of the two.....:drunk:

How many gallons of homebrew in 2017?

5 gal of our bell's two hearted style ipa, 6070
  13. stella_tigre

    So who's brewing this weekend?

A Bell's Two Hearted style IPA on Saturday. HWMO requested it. We're currently drinking a Centennial-Cascade-Citra IPA with a lighter hoppy ale next to keg. Gotta love it!
  14. stella_tigre

    Reading a hydrometer???

My hydrometer instructions say bottom of the meniscus, and it's calibrated to 68 deg f. I did check it when I got it using RO, seems accurate. My second one (I bought two last time because I broke one!) seems to be high by a point or two, so it's my backup.....

How many gallons of homebrew in 2017?

5 gallons of summer IPA (lower abv) 5635

What did I cook this weekend.....

*GURGLE* Haven't checked this thread in a while, it's gardening season y'know. But dayum, this and all you folks are making me drool.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Just about to kick the Flat Tire Crone. A nice mixed hop pale ale hitting its stride, and the CCC IPA going to keg tomorrow. So tomorrow's brew will be a session PA (<5%) with Amarillo and Cascade, to keep the summer pipeline flowing.

    Hops Destroyed by Hail Storm

We saw that storm on radar, and some truly ugly green sky pictures were posted on reddit. Totally sucks, but I agree, don't give up! I had basil shredded to sticks two years ago, they came back gangbusters. I'd say a good dose of balanced fertilizers to give them what they need to rebuild, and...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

MMMMM I love this man of mine! Pork ribs, actually they're double stacked, three full racks. Salad and some good beans, and Homebrew!!!!

    Chunky Beer

Do you drain the bottle when you pour, or could it possibly have gotten mixed during handling?
