What if i brewed a cda and used hops i grew in my yard, should i call it a pennsylvanian black ale? Hops grow just about everywhere, naming a style based on another style, with slight alterations, for the region where some hops come from seems pretentious to me.

I'm not overly concerned about the cost, i just don't want to spend 50 bucks and have to drink grolsch again. I'm probably only going to buy one more batch of beer and by the time i kill that one my pipeline will have three batches ready to drink.

Does anyone know of other beers besides grolsch sold in flip top bottles?

It started out at 1.070 and after a week it hit 1.012, i gave it a good shake and let it sit for a few more days. Checked it sat and it was down to 1.003. Racked it then and cold crashed a gallon w/ campden tablet.

I've been making a cheap(20 bucks) cider for awhile now and love it. 4 gallons apple juice 1 gallon spring water .5 gallon cranberry juice 2lbs brown sugar 12oz honey Champagne yeast 8.65 abv! Very tasty, good drinking cider

Cloning to save money makes sense if your cloning something like chimay. About 100$ a case, i spent 71$ on ingredients for 2 1/2 cases worth. Thats where homebrewing starts to pay for itself.

Yuenling is the preffered swill around here. I like most of long trails offerings, guinness, chimay, dos equis, and sam adams seasonals. I'm very jealous of california's beer drinkers.

Took new sample, sg of 1.010. Found some hops in fermenter, could that cause problems?

I watched a short video on using a hydrometer and saw it floating, not sure what's going on with mine . Will let it sit for another week or so. May take another sample though.
