    Online homebrew retailer

Your Deluxe kit seems quite pricey. On your site, it explains that "Many sites push you to buy around $100 of fancy equipment, though you are really able to make top-quality beer with just two brewing buckets, some bottles, caps, and tubing." This is true, but with your $99 Deluxe Kit, you...

    First Lager Freakout

If it doesn't get a real head? Not sure what this means... Its got quite a bit of foam at the top, no black spots, and clumpy grey/brown stuff that resembles trub...if I'm not mistaken..this sounds like lager krausen...right? This is my first time doing PF in a carboy...I always used a plastic...

    German Pilsener Recipe

In terms of this cold break and coagulated protein at the bottom--do I need to stir it back into the beer before I rack it to the secondary or do I want to leave it behind?

    Identifying the Taste-German Lager

Last night I had a Spaten. It seemed to be a more creamy version of Heinneken. I need some help identifying the bittering taste in these beers. Pale Ale's bitter taste is something you can easily identify and call it bitter. But Hennieken and Spaten--its more of a "funk" than a bitter. "Funk" in...

What's with all the honey beer?

Hm, I like the idea of honey and honey malt together. Do most of you mash this? Would I be fine if I steeped it? I've got a pound of honey malt just sitting in the freezer. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. Perhaps I should make a honey pale ale? Though, I'll probably only use about...

    A beginner's questions

"Bad things" are contamination. Though, when you ask the capping-speed question, I can tell you already know that. In terms of capping speed--I ponder that everytime I bottle--you can only go so fast. You just have to trust that the alcohol present in the bottle will fend off contamination and a...

    The best commercial?

There are certain attributes of other beers that I like to see in mine but I never "clone" other beers. I like all of my recipes to have something unique about them, whether its a carapils addition or from 20L to 40L.

    Some first taste notes..

Do you think you could go into this process a bit more? I've been pondering on a beer with a hint of whiskey. Thanks!

    Cold steeping of specialty grains

This sounds very interesting. So you don't achieve any color from this? One could make up for that with the use of amber dme...

Well, I've tried quite a few beers and I dont think I've come across a honey beer...though, I'm not that big on browns. I'm talking mainly about home brewers...there are a lot of honey beers on this forum...just wondering--whats the big hubub?

What's with all the honey beer?

I'm just wondering, how come home brewers are so into the honey beers? I don't think I've ever seen a commercial brand that sells a "honey beer." Perhaps that's why!...But I'm just kind of curious, is there something about honey that goes so well with beer? I personally have never tried...
