First keezer build - does it ultimately need a collar?

Hi folks, I just started to plan very first keezer project - namely got a freezer and 4x5g kegs. Kegs sit in freezer so that it is about 5" space above them up to lid, so I believe it will fit QDs too. Also my CO2 tank fits inside perfectly without collide the lid. I searched alot for...

    Design Guidance for Kegerator/Keezer

If you will put your setup into living space (eg not a garage, basement, loundry etc) I'd vote for keezer. Leakwise. If full keg leak into your upright fridge (AKA kegerator) - you'll have a mess in the room, possible ruined wooden floor or such In freezer -keezer you'll end up with a little...

Recommendations for self-closing flow control forward sealing faucets/taps?

Thanks guys for your replies Indeed neither 650SS nor even 690SS have self-closing... Unfortunately Intertap has self closing feature/spring for everything but their FC models. It is explicitly stated everywhere that spring is not compatible with FC both Gen1 and Gen2 :( So question still :)

    Keezer Build Video Series

Wow great job perfectly done! A question about drip tray - it looks like you finally glued it in with poured epoxy? Would it be easier for cleaning to have it removable by eg before pouring the epoxy cover it with thin plastic bag or such?

Grainfather glycol chiller and Conical fermenter placement

Hi folks I believe some of you have both grainfather's chiller and conical. Same here :) But unfortunately new equipment usually does not include an additional appartment's space ;) so I'd like to optimize the space somehow.... Do you know/have you tried by chance to install conical on top of...

Brewing with RO water - understanding the recipe

Hi all, I see alot of recipes (in BYO mag in particular) which call for using RO water. They often start with short sentence "RO water used for this recipe". Thats it about water treatment for recipe. My question is: should I treat RO water in any way to clone the recipe (once again recipe...

Cleaning issue after dryhopping - is it normal?

Just wondering about bottles. Will it make the same trick so bottles also will need to be soaked after use?

Cleaning issue after dryhopping - is it normal?

Hi Folks I'm am not a novice, but it is first time I met this issue. It happened after dryhop with Centennial and Zeus - the normally easy-to-clean-off yeast ring on the inner side of ferm bucket wasnt look like a dry yeast. This time it looked more like a ring from a hardened fuel oil...

    Lazy snail fermentation???

For example that one: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=123276 Used dry yeast WB-06, hit final gravity as mentioned after 2,5 weeks, then keep it in fermenter for next 9 days (according to my logs). Primed with 115gr of dex. Turned out great, but much overcarbed.

    Lazy snail fermentation???

Thanks for your responses, guys! Yes, I do. I use refractometer many times during the course and usually bottle after gravity set steady for a week or so. Thats a great catch. I never do any special for oxygenating rather then mixing with a paddle as hell. I see such overcarbs not with the...

    Lazy snail fermentation???

Hi folks, Need an advice. I usually let a batch to sit in fermenter for about 4 weeks (+-) and use as much priming as required by recipe. After bottling in about 80% I noticed that after couple of month in the bottles beer has much more carb than it should. Especially dark and heavy beers...

"Warm" vs "cold" steeping spec grains

Hi folks! As far as I know, the sort of "warm" steeping is quite a common process for extract brewers. But during last year I more and more often stumbled across recipes which calls fo sort of "cold" steeping - crushed grains steeped into cold water (2-3 liters) for about 24h in fridge. I...

Set up a little stock for extract brews

No, you don't need to boil prehopped kit. Just open a can, pour it into FV with a gal of just boiled water and top up FV with cold water up to required vol. Pot is needed then recipe calls either for steeping grains, sort of minimash or extra hop additions (usually flavour and aroma in case...
