Best extract kit modification you ever made?

I'm experimenting with some Munton's pre-hopped cans. I add a hop tea that has steeped for ten minutes and also dry hop for five days. Gives them some fresh hop aroma and flavor.

    Bucket Liner Success

These are 40 cents a piece. I used a whole roll over the course of about two years. I only had one tear, but the beer still turned out fine as the bucket was clean. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LY5XX96/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

    "American hop" flavor

Chinook has a piney flavor. Think, Arrogant Bastard. Simcoe is cat pee, but like the cat peed on a pine tree :D

    Looks like an infection

My only infection was due to an over-used and under-cleaned hop bag. Now I just use disposable ones.

Missed My Pitch Rate What Should I Do?

Do you have extra yeast on-hand? I'd wait three days to see if it takes off. If it is sluggish, pitch some more yeast.

    Raw ingredient cost?

    +1 for $20-$25 range. I can't justify paying $40-$50 for homebrew.

Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA extract clone

What couple pounds of grain are you steeping? Two pounds of a C grain would be a bit much. I would steep the grains in the full volume (7 gallons) at 160'. I would add one bag of DME at the beginning of your boil and save the last two for flameout.

I've had my fermenter buckets for a few years and I want to "deep" clean them

From the DOW (manufacturer) website: Product Uses: LLDPE resins are used in the following industrial fabrication processes:  Film (blown and cast) – Applications include food packaging (crackers, cereals, bakery goods, liquid and semisolid foods, meat and cheese, boil-in-bag vegetables, ice...

I've had my fermenter buckets for a few years and I want to "deep" clean them

For the past year or two I have been using food-grade trash can liners. Its like a new bucket every time. On top of that, cleanup is a breeze. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LY5XX96/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Starsan is far more dense that water. It will not freeze.

Odd ball question, dealing with shipping

I got a box from the shipper, purchased and made the label online and then I just dropped it off at the shipper. For packing, I used PET bottles, wrapped them in a garbage bag and sprayed expanding foam around the bag for a tight fit.

White sediment at the top of the bottles

I typically get a small ring around the top of every bottle. Just yeast I presume.

Can i bottle my beer in plastic Tupperware bottles?

I would use 2 to begin with. If that is not enough, try 3.

Can i bottle my beer in plastic Tupperware bottles?

I would worry more about the pressure they can hold. I use 1 liter club soda or ginger ale bottles. You can find them at the store for less than a dollar. You can purchase reusable screw caps online. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006RIQORC/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

    American IPA Comet session IPA

I made a couple of beers last year with Comet. I really enjoy this hop. I am going to experiment with an ultra low session ale (3%) using two-row and oats. How did the one pound of oats impact this beer? Did you notice better mouthfeel? Cloudiness? Any negative effects?

    Smokin' Centennial Blonde Ale

Is it smoke or oak? You could try some oak chips.

Critique wanted - simple fresh hop 3-C IPA

Personally, I would move the Chinook to bittering only. I think it will overpower the Cascade and Centennial in the aroma additions.

    Techniques To Make Non-Alcoholic Beer

I have a silly question: Is there any risk of an explosion when boiling off the alcohol in an oven? Just wondering. It seems like the fumes would build up inside the oven.
