    Grainfather!!

Ok all you GF owners. I have been following most of this thread and have read many praises about the convenience and ease of use when brewing with the GF. That is certainly a great thing. But I have seen very little comment about the quality of the beers being produced with the GF!? So for...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

You have the right idea. Just need enough nylon tape and make sure to wrap the tape in a clockwise direction to make a seal. I like your mini chamber build. You might want to paint your fiber board bottom to seal it from liquids as there will be spills. Did you leave enough headroom for an...

    FastFerment conical

You didn't ask me but... ;) I usually keep the valve closed until the yeast becomes active. Usually a day or two then I open the valve for the remainder. As far as diacetyl goes, I don't think having the valve open or closed is going to have an affect on the amount of diacetyl in your...

    FastFerment conical

They do have their issues but you can plan around them. For the solids that stick to the sides of the conical; make sure there room left in the collection ball so the solids have room and a place to go. Then, the day before you plan to drain to the keg/bottles, I take the back end of a...

    Moo-Hoo Clone

I've had my latest batch with adjustments mentioned above in the keg for a little more than a week now. First impressions; It's definitely more chocolaty and not nearly as roasty as the original FinFan batch. The aroma is not there like before but I attribute that to not using the Olive &...

    CO2 tanks. Inside or Outside?

A piece of 1/2" plywood, a few saw cuts, some wood glue and some nails will cure that. And you don't have to worry about knocking it over when rearranging kegs or beer lines. ;) FYI - I saw a post where someone kept his CO2 tank in the basement and ran a 1/4" high pressure line up through the...

Removing Keezer collar and placing on new chest freezer

If it were silicone, which is what most use to attach a collar, I would say take a thin wire and fish one end between the collar and the freezer. Then grab either end of the wire and pull it along to cut the silicone. But I'm not sure whether a thin wire will be strong enough to cut the liquid...

3rd Batch Want to Hit OG Closer

You won't be able to accurately predict your OG until you dial in your process with relative consistency and determine your typical efficiency. Once you determine your typical efficiency for your set-up and your process, you'll be able to adjust your grain bill to target a predictable OG...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

To dry hop; Fill a hop sack with your favorite hop and drop it in. Now I also tie a length of flavorless floss to the hop sack and tie the other end off to one of the support tabs so I don't have to fish out the sack prior to draining. There is some mixing of air into the co2 in the head space...

    Tank to tank refill???

I appreciate the words of caution. I think with a little education/knowledge on how Co2 behaves, some reasonable precautions and careful monitoring, it's a reasonably safe thing to undertake. Of course many folks interpret "reasonably safe" differently depending on their own life...

    Tank to tank refill???

Perfect! That's what I'm looking to do. Now that is creative. Having a feed line come up through the floor to supply your kegerator. No footprint. No wasted space upstairs or in your kegerator. Crap. Now you've got me thinking... ;)
