    FastFerment conical

A definite drawback of the plastic conical over stainless. The plastic has enough texture in it to allow the solid particles to cling to the side. I have to admit, I have used the vibrator on the side trick to get most of the solids to slide down into the CB... Another drawback could be/will...

What came in the mail for you today?

Now I just to figure out how to use it properly...

    FastFerment conical

I have not tried this but I don't think it would be a workable method with the FF. When reopening the valve after the first CB change; I have seen it take a few days before the rest of the sediment drops into the CB. The beer flows through the center of the trub. While it flows, it pulls the...

    FastFerment conical

Sorry to rain on your parade, but you're all wet... Get it!? ;) For the benefit of any new folks coming to this thread, everything called out in the quoted post above as a Pro and a Con is simply not true nor correct. First, "It" doesn't ferment any faster. That's all up to the yeast. The...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Sorry but please don't sell it or yourself short. Anyone can throw a ton of money at something to come up with something awesome. But using repurposed materials to create something out of nothing takes someone with vision, creativity and a skill that not many have these days. Looks like...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

I've had the same situation on a few batches. Give it a few days and the dam will begin to break. All you need is time a gravity. Gravity always wins...

    Grainfather!!

Some very good comments and advice from Tex and I couldn't agree more. I've been following this thread for quite some time and the owners of this system have formed an almost cult following and are very invested emotionally. Maybe they should have named it "ibrew" instead?? Relax. just...

What did I cook this weekend.....

We did a pizza too. Nothing like a home fired pizza on a Saturday night with a "few" home brews... :mug:

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

If I were to call you out when you do dumb things but not do the same when you do good ones, it just wouldn't be fair... I for one appreciate the reversal on what I think was a bad marketing scheme. Most of us come to this forum to share experiences, swap ideas and have a laugh or two. It is...

Refractometer accuracy measuring gravity - Strange readings

Refractometers work by measuring how the light bends when it passes through the liquid. The presence of alcohol changes how the light passes through thus throwing off the FG reading. There are calculators that are supposed to help adjust for this change but I wouldn't trust it for FG. Invest...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

Photos are difficult to tell sometimes but I'm not seeing a lot of intact husks and quite a bit of fine material. Looks a little too fine to me?? Let us know how the mash goes/went. BTW, Does you love how the significant other with bring you back to earth...

I think my Bastard Stepson ruined my carboy

Here lately, I've seen retailers offering discounts for folks posting reviews. One retailer is running a promotion for a free accessory if folks post reviews on this forum! So yes, take the reviews with a large grain of salt... Have you tried Oxiclean or better yet, PBW? If...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Good grief... who is driving folks to this forum for formal reviews?? I've seen a few pop up all of a sudden on this thread as well as the other FF thread as well. These forums are a sharing of experiences and ideas. There are plenty of review sites elsewhere.

    Show us your Kegerator

It may be more work than sticking shanks through the door but still much quicker than the coffin top build I took on. Beer makes us do crazy things... ;) As far as your design, the only thing that I see you may have to contend with at some point is condensation from the freezer compartment...

    Show us your Kegerator

That's awesome! Not sure I've seen many that used the freezer compartment for taps. Looks like 1.0 & 2.0 provided good build experience. :mug:
