Burping Conical Fermenter w/CO2 During Dry Hopping

There is another reason this could be beneficial and that's to purge any O2 that was trapped in the hops and released after being submerged in the wort from the head space. I have read recently about a commercial brewer (don't recall the name) who is obsessive about preventing any O2...

    Grainfather!!

John Guest should be rated for high temp liquids (high enough for us anyway) and you already had it on hand. Again re-purposing at it's best! Answers my question... ;)

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

Yep. It's just that simple. Trippr is right too. Sometimes I'll squeeze the cleaner/water/sanitizer out. Sometimes I'll give a shot of CO2. If I'm doing a big flush (full 2 liter bottle), I may use a shot of CO2 after I've squeezed out 1/4-1/3 the bottle. If I'm just filling the line...

    Grainfather!!

I think it's awesome when folks re-purpose stuff. And your HLT is no exception! But I have to ask; why the plastic valve? Are you sure it's rated to handle 180-190 deg water? Even so, I'd be concerned it would only be a matter of time before it got broken...

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

It works just fine. It's the only thing I've used to clean, flush and sanitize the lines on my 3 tap keezer over the last year and I see no need or reason to change what I'm doing. I'm in no way trying to dissuade anyone from making the pump sprayer nor trying to put it down. Just posted to...

Confession time: would you buy the beer(s) you have brewed in a bar?

That's like saying you have a favorite child!? You really do but you'd never admit it... ;) I love all my children! :mug:

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

I think this has been posted before, but to give others who haven't seen it a low cost easy alternative, here is my beer beer line cleaner. $15 for the carbonation cap and an empty 2 liter ginger ale bottle...

    Co2 tank sweating

You answered your own question... Load that thing up and give it time to equalize the temp inside. Then it will cycle much less frequently. I hope you have a tap on the outside of the frig so you don't have to open the door every time you want a beer? If not, and if you drink as many beers...

    Show us your Kegerator

Most folks like to keep things simple. NOT me!!! ;) I removed factory lid and made my own top. Now if I ever want to convert it back to a freezer, I can. I also hinged both the top & the collar separately with the idea that I wouldn't have the lift the kegs as high. But I never added a latch...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Lager yeast is a bottom fermenting yeast but I'm not a lager guy. I would post your issues in the Fermenting & Yeast forum. Maybe someone there can help??

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

The seal on the lid is important. It's there to keep the CO2 in the head-space stable and keep creepy crawlys out. But it should not affect fermentation itself. How long ago did you pitch your yeast? What strain and at what temp?

Still alive - just tackling a HUGE DIY

Call up a few local cabinet shops and ask where they get their plywood. They might put on a good plywood/lumber source. That's how I found the one I use. It's about an hour one way but well worth it. I can get various species of furniture grade hardwoods for less than i can buy crappy old...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

The new gaskets are soft and grippy which makes unscrewing the lid difficult. I place the new soft gasket in the lip first then put the old firm gasket on top of it. Makes unscrewing the lid easier.
