Don't tell me you built that without ever having brewed before??:o

Such a shame you weren't able to capture it's true beauty...

I agree. Nice build @arcorey. How long did the build take from start to finish?

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

    Great example! LOL

A few thoughts... That seems to be a very narrow base to support the kind of weight you will have so high up. If you haven't already, I would fill the upper HLT with about 10 gallons of water to get an idea of how stable/unstable the stand will be. I think you may need to widen that base. And...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

I have taken a collection ball full of yeast cake from a previous batch and dumped about 1/3 of the amount into a new wort batch and had great results. So if you were planning on leaving the yeast cake in the CB and just adding a new batch of wort on top, I would change your plan slightly. I...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

I have been thinking about making the leap to 10 gal batches so the 14 gal FF would fit right into that plan. I still have to work through a keggle conversion so not quite ready yet. Report back if you beat me to the punch.

If your kegerator was at house, you'd never have to worry about the faucets sticking... :D

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

If you can't find a finer mesh to use, maybe try putting a stainless steel scrubbie inside the filter. It might help catch a little more crud. But frankly, if you rap on the sides of the FF to start a trubalanche of the fine crud settled on the sides the day before you do the final trub dump...

    FastFerment conical

A definite plus with plenty of head space. Before I started kegging, I would brew & bottle 6-1/2 gal batches. I miss the additional volume but NOT dealing with the bottling... I've had one of my FF for almost two years. It's starting to develop stain ring from the krausen and I have only ever...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

I knew it was somehow my fault... ;) I thought I was doing good by only cleaning with soap, water & a sponge, but you're probably right. Guess I'll start cleaning with PBW to see how much I can prolong the life of this plastic.

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

I use PBW for my kegs but will use it for the FF this time around as well. I'm fairly sure it will clean it but there's obviously a change going on with the surface of the plastic as I've only run into this problem with the last couple of cleanings.

How many gallons of homebrew in 2016?

Now THAT, is a shame... ;)

Not impressed with my immersion chiller...

LOL... I'm sure you could really derail this thread with that discussion, but on a HB scale, I've only seen folks bring it up as a concern and have not seen many if any say they've actually had issues with it. I also recall reading about an experiment where a couple of HB'er tried their best to...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

For those that have been in from the beginning (will be 2 years in Oct) have you noticed it getting harder and harder to clean off the krausen ring? Just kegged a Fresh Squeezed inspired IPA and there is a stain that I can't clean completely with soap, water and a sponge. I don't normally use...

Not impressed with my immersion chiller...

The cheapest, laziest and most effective method when using an IC is to get a $5 paint stirrer from HD and put it on the end of a drill. For those with higher temp hose water, a pre-chiller to get it down those last 10-15 degrees is a plus...

Keezer Build - Tips and Lessons Learned

I started with an 3" Atwood bulge fan but it was too high pitched, noisy and obnoxious. Now I use it in my ferm chamber and switched to 4" in-line duct fans for my keezer with an Active Air unit to adjust the fan speed. The inline duct fans are 120v so you just wire them straight or plug them...
