    Green Tea Weizen

Same with barley grains, which will release tannins just like tea if you overheat them (about 175F). Which is why you essentially steep grains to make beer (steep, mash, same thing for the purposes of my anaolgy). Then you throw out the grains and boil the liquor. Tea is the same way. You...

    Green Tea Weizen

Yes, you want it subtle, so as not to dominate the wheat. The question is, how do you handle bitterness? Tea is bitter, so you'd have to figure that into the IBU. Maybe you could just pop open a wheat beer with a known or low IBU (like Blue Moon) and add some already-brewed tea to see how much...

    Green Tea Weizen

Subscribed. I've been wanting to do a green tea wheat, but I am utterly clueless as to how much tea to use. I will look fwd to your results.

Easy Stovetop All-Grain Brewing (with pics)

My 172 strike was a little too cold, as I got just about 161 sparge in my latest batch. :( Afraid of tannins, I was too conservative with the strike temps. Next time I do 175-180F with my mere 7 qt sparge.

Easy Stovetop All-Grain Brewing (with pics)

Overdue! :mug: Boiling my second AG batch as I type, thanks to this thread. For those contemplating AG, the smell alone of grain bags in your house (not to mention during mash) make it worth it. Plus it's a lot cheaper than extract, especially if you like imported grains like maris otter or...

Easy Stovetop All-Grain Brewing (with pics)

DeathBrewer, you wrtote somewhere that you use ProMash for your recipes. Is there somewhere I can find one of them? I didn't see your nickname under any of the recipes here. This would be extremely helpful if you are using ProMash with the method described in this thread. For the record, my...

Easy Stovetop All-Grain Brewing (with pics)

I notice no talk of pH in this thread. Is it just not that big of a deal with most municipal water quality? Does anyone here use bottled spring water?

    Banana Bread Ale

So I've been struggling to keep temps down in the house for months, and it finally gets cool, and I now I find this recipe? :( I will definitely try this when it warms up in hop-planting season. :D I wonder if some victory malt would be in order to make banana-nut bread ale?

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

DeathBrewer, great guide. You've actually got me planning my first partial mash brew this weekend after 30+ extract batches. If I had the ingredients, I'd do an all-grain, but that will have to wait until later in the week. Thanks for the incentive, from one small brew-space guy to...
