    Wild Huckleberry Wheat

I ordered the extract from the site above and have an American wheat ale in the fermenter right now that I'll try it with. I'll put it in the bottling bucket before racking and see how it tastes. Will let you know in a week or so. The wheat beer is from an extract kit from Austin Homebrew supply.

Need a fruit recipe for better half

She doesn't seem to like the heavier beers I like and most of the store bought fruit beers are too sweet for me so is the a recipe or kit someone can recommend that will satisfy both of us? I'm brewing extracts right now but if the recipe is outstanding then I'd consider an all grain attemp

    Hydrometer reading clarification

I was going to start another batch Monday is the reason I want to move it to a secondary. That should give it 8 days in the primary. The temp is right around 70 degrees. It's in my basement so it's tough to get it any warmer. I suppose I could wrap a blanket or something around it, not sure...

    Hydrometer reading clarification

The instructions for my kit say that it should be within 3-4 points of FG before transferring to the secondary. It's been in the primary for 6 days and I just took a hydrometer reading and I'm getting 1.026. FG should be approximately 1.012 Which position is the 3-4 points taken from...

    Wild Huckleberry Wheat

How difficult would it be to come up with a recipe for this? Wild Huckleberry A light lager blended with real Montana huckleberry juice. Not bitter or overly sweet; extremely refreshing. Style - American wheat lager with fruit IBU’s - 11 ABV - 4.6% Malts - Wheat, Pilsner, & Vienna Hops -...

    Anyone built a DIY sink?

That's a great idea! Although I'd have to find a place to put it. That may be the route I go if I can find a cheap tub.

    Anyone built a DIY sink?

My brew area is in my one car garage so it's narrow. I have water and drainage available and could put a utility tub in but then couldn't get the car in. What I need is a sink that's about 24" long X 16" wide (from the wall out) X 16" deep. I can either mount the faucet on the wall or on one...

    Anyone built a DIY sink?

Some of the sinks and utility tubs are to big for my brew area and the custom sizes are too expensive. Was wondering if anyone had built their own out of plywood and epoxy or any other material for that matter?

What came in the mail for you today?

My Bayou Classic KAB4 burner was on my front porch when I got home. Went to put it together and the cast burner hole that the nozzle screws into was tapped too large for the nozzle! Called the number in the instruction sheet and they had a new burner boxed up and shipped no questions asked! Now...

What do you use to take your gravity samples?

I actually do have a thief :smack: Do you pull the whole lid off for that or just take the air-lock off and use that hole?

What do you use to take your gravity samples?

Do you just use a measuring cup (sanitized), pull out what you need to fill the tube with the Hydrometer in it or is there a preferred method? My 1st batch is still in the primary (just 3 days) but I was trying to set up my brewing area with all the equipment I needed when I started thinking...

Cheap carboy drier / drain stand

That would be great if I didn't have to add $8 shipping on top of the $7 I'd have bought one at that price but couldn't justify the total with shipping for a piece of plastic

    on propane burners and regulators

Those burners are meant to be used with 10 psi regulators and you really won't get any additional output by going the the 30 psi model. They only put out around 58,000 btu. After impatiently waiting for my last batch to boil, I got frustrated and just purchased the Bayou classic KAB4 cooker...

Cheap carboy drier / drain stand

I've seen the plastic carboy drier stands at my local brew supply shop but just could justify the $20 they wanted for it even though I've been looking for a way to stand mine up to dry. I was taking out the trash last night and throwing away an old flush mount ceiling fan when the light bulb...

    Beginners 1st batch questions

And since this is the first time I've been on this site on a real computer (I've been using the App on my phone), I just found all the sticky threads that I should have read before posting! :o

    Beginners 1st batch questions

So, add that to my list of 1st time mistakes. The guy told me to just bring it to temp, shut the heat of and tea bag the grain for 30 minutes. Then bring it back to a boil. I'm sure the temp dropped significantly in those 30 minutes so I didn't get the full starch conversion out of it. This...
