How many gallons brewed in 2020

    1725 + 5 IPA = 1730

What I did for beer today

I stared at my fermenter for a good portion of the day. If anyone is familiar with South Park... This was me pretty much all day...https://southpark.cc.com/clips/dxitu0/cartman-cant-wait-3-weeks Just imagine that instead of the Nintendo Wii, it was beer.

Crushed too fine and now this in boil....

Pretty much sums up the majority of my brewing career so far haha! The last batch I decided not to care about anything that went wrong, just rolled with it, wrote it down, and pitched my yeast. Then, in a frantic 5 mins after pitching, I consulted the forum and pitched a second pack... I should...

I have brewed about 10 batches of beer, last two were tangy.

If your sanitization is up to par, I wonder if it could be temperature related? Have any conditions during fermentation been altered? I have been diving into the conditions I provide during fermentation and ways on how I can improve them. Only other thing I could think of with my limited...

    Expired yeast?

For the future, dry yeast is extremely hardy and can still be pitched well after its expiration date. I pitched a packet the other day that was more than 2 years past it's expiration date with no problem. Enjoy your beer!

AHH forgot to take OG Hydrometer reading: Mead

What was your recipe/process and your final gravity reading? Someone a bit more well versed than myself in Beersmith or other similar programs might be able to give you a basic idea of what your original gravity would have looked like.

    Yeast wisdom

Yeah I have skipped a few sections already. I could tell at first glance that a lot of it is well beyond me at this point haha. Thanks for the calculators! It's always easier when I can have the computer do the math for me.

    All Grain To extract question

As a new guy myself, I feel it is my responsibility to tell you that not everything will go 100% perfectly as planned... Don't worry about it! My first batch was a complete disaster from the moment it started until the moment I sealed the lid on the fermenter. You know what the best part was...

    Yeast wisdom

I have been reading John Palmer's "How To Brew" for the last couple of days. I just came across the section on how to calculate your yeast pitch based on OG, volume, and style. Interesting read so far. Some of it is a little above my pay grade though... Great book!

    How did it all start?

Seems to be the norm for the first year. It costs the bees their first yer to get fully established. The second year they start to produce a lot more. If they make it through winter....

    Yeast wisdom

Yeah glass never seemed like a good idea to me when I had other options available. Just seemed like wayyy to much glass and weight to be moving around. I went for all plastic fermenters. I really like my fermonster minus the lid being nearly impossible to get back off once its screwed down all...

    How did it all start?

It looks like everyone has a different story to tell. That's awesome! Keep the stories coming!

Brew time, and avoiding bottle explosions.

Yeast get tired and put themselves to bed when they run out of sugars to eat. That is when they start dropping out of suspension and collecting on the bottom of the fermenter. As others have stated, it is important to know how much sugar to prime with. You only want to feed the yeast enough to...

    How did it all start?

I have been looking at rolling my own cigars. I love a good cigar as well. Never tried Sushi though. I would be in trouble if I started doing that. I would have to make Sushi breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the girlfriend every day...

    How did it all start?

I have been looking at the Brewzilla 3.1. I definitely want to make the jump to all grain soon. Let me know how the Mash and Boil works out for you!

    How did it all start?

I looked at doing this a couple of years ago. My family owns a little property about 30-40 mins from here. a bit of a drive but I could put as many hives out there as I want. I have too many expensive hobbies. I sometimes wonder how much money I would have if it didn't all go into hobbies...

    How did it all start?

Let us know how it turns out. Guinness always had a special place for me. I mean my last name is Sullivan... I guess I didn't really have a choice haha! Let us know how it turns out.

    How did it all start?

That's great! What did you brew?

    How did it all start?

That is awesome! Talk about company outreach!

    How did it all start?

See that is another great reason! I was just talking to a co-worker the other day who said he had a tiny brewery in his tiny hometown that was sold out to bigger brand. His favorite beer has never been the same. He brews his own now as well. The way he saw it, he didn't have any other choice.
