Low flavor and scent base malt extract.

Use corn and other beer adjuncts that have very low flavour, im not sure if they make a malted corn extract though.

How to Improve a coopers stout kit?

Ive added malt extract to a coopers kit once, its alot better without it and just sugar. It taste more strong/maltier, ive tried this with their australian pale ale, I used pale malt to keep the colour intact.

What beer(s) have you lost interest in since homebrewing?

I lost intrest in lagers in general, especially adjunct lagers. Recently Ive had a alexander keiths, and what I thought was a good IPA, now my preferance has changed....it lacked in taste! The only lagers I can think of that still might be good on my list are beers like heineken, grolsch, and...

    Apartment all grain?

So the lower the SG of the boil, you need to use LESS hops ? Because you get more utilization of them ?

    Toronto Water

Im not sure if the water is safe to drink, there is a noticeable difference when drinking water in Bolton which is not to far, but far enough that their water supply is separate. Ive come to wonder, if my beer would be ALOT better brewing with this new found water. Dont get me wrong, the...

    Apartment all grain?

Why cant he just mash in two separate pots, boil the 2.5gallon wort and top off with water to 5gal ? Or is the grain not gonna mash properly not having enough water/grain ratio ? Dont worry about your efficiency, if your looking for extra gravity points why not throw in some malt extract...

    Dead guy and Hobgoblin

Yeah, bench cappers are kind-of costly, id much rather invest in swing-top bottles than a bench capper. I threw the beer back into a gallon jug and put it in the fridge, dont know if they will protect it more from oxygen, currently my gallon bung is being used for wine, I should have a...

    Dead guy and Hobgoblin

Even after a 7 day ale yeast ferment, it settle pretty nicely and doesnt leave a LOAD in the bottle, its bearable, but im gonna try that one day for a lager brew. Im sooooo pisst off right now, my capper keeps breaking bottles, then I realized its the new bottles that are coors light...

    Dead guy and Hobgoblin

I never knew guys, but isnt it much safer to at least use an airlock if your going to let the beer sit on the yeast after fermentation is complete ? ? Isnt it the same thing bottling after a week and waiting 3-4months ? The beer is still sitting on the same yeast.
  12. S

    Dead guy and Hobgoblin

Well perhaps because im bottle conditioning it is critical to get the yeast before it settles out too much and conditioning will take forever!

He said I'm making too much beer!!

I have a drinking problem too, I brew too fast, and dont drink em fast enough. Just today I realized that im going to need 5 cases of emptys to bottle some stuff pretty soon!! I only drank like 3 beers this week, been kinda sick with this light mild cough now for a month which causes me to...

is it supposed to look like that?

I see three layers, 1 sediment, 2 dark, and 3 light. Are you sure the 2nd level is alot darker than the 3rd ? Cuz that would be abit wierd. Tell us what ingredients you used, how long you mashed for, and at what temperature ? How long was your boil ? Also when you finished your boil and...

    Hmm something wrong

Doesnt this shaking action oxidize the wine further ? Ive heard you need special equipment to degass wine properly like vaccums and wine whips.

    Favorite Clone

Hi guys, was in a chatty mood, was wondering what you all are into!! What is your all time favorite beer recipe that you cloned/copied ? And why ? I was also wondering if any of you made adjunct lagers, to impress your lawnmower beer drinking friends ?

    Dead guy and Hobgoblin

Wait, leave the beer for two weeks ? ? If its done fermenting wouldnt there be a huge risk of oxygen ruining the batch >? With wine this is the case, id assume with beer is the same! Do I have to be so critical in timing, guys ? Yeah, orfy, I think what I did adds a nice balance of hops, not...

    Coopers lagering

Well its all done now, its pretty well started, not too strong though. Its not gonna be a real lager bcuz the temp is only 19c in my room with windows open, if only there was a way to shut off the heater in my room.... Is it normal for my sg to be this low ? 24L of water mixed with 1.7kg...

    Dead guy and Hobgoblin

SG is now 1.008... it did drop but by very little. Can anyone confirm that I should prime now ? ? The thing is im not sure how much NON-fermentables came out of the malt extract and 100grams of caramel/carastan and chocolate.(2.5gal)

    Coopers lagering

Yea thx for responses, it actually says on their site to mantained the temps 15c for this specific one, however they also say to use a dextrose brew enhancer kit, with light dry malt. I used liquid malt extract, This is the very first time in coopers kits ive used malt extract instead of just...
