    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

No way I can see doing 5G in the 20. The first Youtube vid that was posted here showed 6 gallons of water, but only about 2 inch high in the basket. No way you could get a grain bill in that little bit of water I would think.

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

My plan would be to get the 20G. I already have a Grainfather for 5's. Next system would be to go bigger.

    NEIPA Timeline Advice Requested

This thread has answered a ton of questions. I am dealing with something similar. Still airlock activity and krausen. Been 10 days so far. For my hop adds, I did 1st at 24 hours then 2nd 5 days later. Basically 2 additions at 5 days each. At the end of this 5 days which is Wednesday I'll...

    Working through a Hazy

Thanks man.. I appreciate the response. I should be able to crash in a few more days

    Working through a Hazy

I would be. I'm using a spike CF5 and have the temp kit so would remove the blowoff tube, add a few psi of pressure to keep it positive and use the temp control kit to crash it for 48ish hours. I use bags (really a cage) in my flex+ but in the conical blocks the dump tube.

    Working through a Hazy

Brewing a hazy. Added first hops to fermenter at 24 hours after pitching. Went well. Pulled a sample about 3 days later. So far so good. Added 2nd addition 5 days after the first. Pulled sample and was green. Question is will everything settle without a cold crash or should I cold crash...

    Best way to dry hop.

I'm using a conical with a dump port so I just drop the hops in and will let them settle over time. Depending on when, like this hazy I'm doing now I put my first addition mid fermentation so the krausen is thick, keeping oxidation chances low, plus there is plenty of co2 exhausting still. By...

NEW Spike Brewing BIAB System announced at NHC 2019

Could be, but I'm hanging onto my GF for the 5's. I have wanted to move up to 10's for a while and this system has really peaked my interest.

NEW Spike Brewing BIAB System announced at NHC 2019

I think it was done that way so the basket can be also used in other kettles. I like the separation for the sake I can clean or replace a part more easily than an integrated system like Grainfather, even though I love my GF :) The 20G is for 5 or 10G batches. I like that I can whirlpool on...

NEW Spike Brewing BIAB System announced at NHC 2019

I love my Grainfather (5G), but something about a separate pump and not all one piece is a selling point. Harder to replace a pump in something like grainfather, when I can just swap a dead pump if separate. Also like that if I move over to a pilot I already have one kettle.

NEW Spike Brewing BIAB System announced at NHC 2019

And to think, my birthday is in July so if this releases spring I am getting myself an early Bday gift. I think I'll run my outlet within the next couple weeks.

    What brewery are you visiting?

Got back from Charleston 2 weeks back. Got to visit Palmetto and Revelry. Palmetto has a lot of flavor beers. Some I liked, some not so much. Revelry was great. Cool atmosphere to hang out and have a few beers. Pretty much an outdoor area and on a nice day is great. Had their Never Summer

NEW Spike Brewing BIAB System announced at NHC 2019

I'm looking forward to this. I'm ready for some 10g batches since my 5's disappear too fast lol... One day I want a Pilot, but I'll get this and a CF10 to get me moving :)

NEW Spike Brewing BIAB System announced at NHC 2019

Oh trust me, I'm still probably buying one lol. It is just a very interesting way to suspend the basket. I haven't seen a Spike product I haven't liked yet.

NEW Spike Brewing BIAB System announced at NHC 2019

I still think that hook system, refined or not, is going to wreck the kettle edge over time. That is a lot of weight that is not distributed evenly. Either way, still interested in this system. Just curious why this was the chose perch option for the basket.

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

A lot of weight on one little hook. I hope it's more than that.

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

I saw that and was wondering as well. There has to be another piece based on the blueprint and the fact it works with other kettles, so the kettle itself cannot be modified for a different structure.

    Charleston, SC - Which Breweries

Wife and I are headed to Charleston this weekend for a few days. The site shows 15 breweries to visit. Knowing I will not be able to see them all as we are planning on checking out a lot of the historical sites as well, which would be your top 5 to check out?

Has anyone used this beer line cleaner?

Looks interesting. I've been using Kegco's beer line cleaner.

Grain Bill on High ABV with BIAB

That's good to know. I just always went on the mash thickness calcs and not taking into account BIAB. Didn't even know it was a thing. I'm using a Grainfather and dialed in the grain absorption and trub/deadspace losses. Last brew was spot on so I was happy that I finally got it tweaked...
