Opinions wanted on brewing system choice

If I did it all over again, I would have went with the Foundry instead of the M&B. I did notice significant temp shift as I had other probes watching temps so it ended up being a turnoff. The best way to tell if there is a noticeable difference is repeatability. Brew the same recipe again...

Opinions wanted on brewing system choice

I had a Mash and Boil. I liked it, but the controller has a 5 degree start/stop. So during mash, if you are at 152 it won't kick the heat element on until 147. Then I'd notice it would overshoots as it went back up. Still made decent beer, but the tight temp control wasn't there. I changed...

    Glycol chiller reviews

I have had an Octoberfest fermenting 2 weeks roughly now. In the garage at 80 degrees, it doesn't cycle too often and temps are withing a degree. As it is cooling off outside and the garage temps are a little lower its cycling even less of course. So far it has been great. I am only using it...

Upgrade to All Grain with All-In-One

I hated the cooler. You have to keep the water to a low ratio and ice to a high ration to keep the water cold enough and not have the ice melt too fast. Just a lot of babysitting each day. I've got an Octoberfest fermenting at 50 degrees right now. It's nice to have full control of temp..

Upgrade to All Grain with All-In-One

This is a big thing too. I was doing more brewing in the winter as I had the temp control system with heat pad and easier to keep the temp up with that. When it got warm I tried using a cooler with ice and its a pain in the azz. I've since upgraded to a penguin glycol chiller so I have full...

Upgrade to All Grain with All-In-One

I have the Grainfather and love it. I also have a Spike Flex Plus and CF5 Conical. I use the Flex if I am not doing anything with adjuncts or a secondary. The Conical I purchased the leg extensionions (shorter of the 2), added the sight glass and rolling casters. I use the sight glass to...

    Super long fermentation. Problem?

Last NEIPA I did was the same. Still kept off gassing. Just monitored gravity a few extra days, verified it was stable and not changing any longer then transfered to a keg..

    Glycol chiller

I bought a Penguin through Spike. Just got a chance to use it on a lager from last Thrursdays brew day. It's been great.

    Spending

$200? I remember my first 2 kegs lol I keep expanding. It's addicting and love adding to the variety of stuff I have and can do. Just spend it. If you spend it, it will brew more......

    Glycol chiller reviews

I ordered a 1/2hp Penguin through Spikes website. Shows up today. Can't give my personal pro's/con's yet, but based on my research this fit the bill perfectly for me.

    Disappointed in my rhizomes

Next year I will look at buying from some of the above spots like Fresh Hops. One of my cascades is struggling now. Leaves looking burnt and others turning yellow and thinning out. I use the fertilizer every 2 to 3 weeks and in this heat water every to every other day

    Disappointed in my rhizomes

For mine, the pots are only getting me through this season until we actually had the time to build out the raised garden. I had to repair some of my fence so did that in the spring and next project is the garden. I'll have better growth area then.

    Disappointed in my rhizomes

Oh wow. Fortunately I don't have any wild animals in my yard due to it being fenced in. My wife and I used pallets to elevate our pots so the dogs can't access. In the fall we are going to build a full raised garden that I'll build a simple netting around to still keep the dogs out. They...

    Disappointed in my rhizomes

I planted vertically. That's what the pamphlet said that came with them and didn't know any better.

    Disappointed in my rhizomes

NB does state they come directly from the grower. I saw another thread on here that sell them as the smaller plant and may try that route as well

    Disappointed in my rhizomes

Oh yea. My house is direct sunlight of 90% of the day in the area I put them.

    Disappointed in my rhizomes

Ok, so I bought 1 columbus and 3 cascade rhizomes from Northern Brewer back in April along with some of the fertilizer they offered. I planted them in 14" wide pots (1 each to be clear). I treated them all the same as far as watering, used a 3/4 fill of potting soil, 1/4 of a cactus soil mix...

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

No mesh bag needed. You might be able to rig up a pully system. The videos up show it being lifted by hand.

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

I can't remember which video, but I believe its the member on this forum that post reviews stated he might try a 5 gallon batch. I wasn't ever planning on trying a 5 gallon since I'm keeping my Grainfather for 5 gallons and my experimental brews. Plus when I go to the Spike BIAB system, it...
