Do I really need a keggle?

I purchesaed a 14 gal kettle a while back and I'm thinking of picking up a couple of kegs. One for sparge water. It will be easier to heat the water in the tun than transfer after heating and hope the temp stays up while I start sparging. Also easier to install sight glasses to monitor how much...

SS braid, copper tube, bazooka tube???

I was using a Bazooka-T in my kettle for the first few brews in it, and it clogged bad. I had to use an immersion chiller (instead of the CFC) and pop the "T" off of there (good thing it wasn't clamped on). Went to the braid with no issues. I don't remember if I have done a pellet only brew with...

    Birch Beer

I know there are some good extracts out there, but I'd prefer to do one from scratch. Haven't found anything that good on the internet yet.

    growing hops

Check some of the hop suppliers, a lot of them will have guidelines for growing hops, if they sell Rhyzomes. I got a pretty good guide from Brewing News (had to send in $5) If you mix up some fertilizer and vermiculite(to help draining) as well as some other nutrients when you plant them you...

    Blichmann Beer Gun

And pressurize the bottle to eliminate the pressure diffrence that causes the foaming. The air is purged from the bottle, then the bottle pressure is eaqualized with the dispensing pressure, then some valves are turned and you slowly bleed off the bottle pressure, which allows the beer to flow...

Hooking up Drill to Corona Mill: Ideas? [pics]

Or you could just tighten the nut against the shaft. Yeah, they're not going to cut it for you. Unless maybe you go to tool rental, they might help you out there. A local hardware store might be able to help you out a bit better.

    Minibrew Conical Fermenter?

One of the guys from the brew shop uses the 25 gallon one with great results. I'd recommend going with the biggest one possible. The cost diffrence between them is pretty minimal and there really isn't a signifigant time/effort diffrence between a 5 gallon and 25 gallon AG batch. As long...

    Quitting brewing

A full boil might not be a bad idea if you can facilitate the larger pot. Better hop utilization, clearer product, and cleaner taste. A hot vinigar soak will help clean up that copper. I'll run hot vinigar thru my CFC from timt to time.

Quick check on my calculations (brewing in a few min)

Thanks Erik. Everything worked out all right. I was going to do two sparges off of something I had read the other day. Well I guess I'll find out if HSA is a myth. My system started sucking in air and was blowing bubbles into the sweet wort. I've got to make some changes to my setup...

need help with a strong brew

I've got a Belgian style golden I'll try to dig up. It has Honey, coriander, and orange peel. I've got 7 lbs of honey to a 10 gallon batch. It's slightly sweet, not too malty, but a hell of a kick. The honey completly hides the alcohol, only problem is it won't truly be ready for...
