Brew in a Bag a Good Transition to All Grain Brewing Without Intimidation

I bought a grate for a round charcoal grill at Home Depot. It fits on the top of my 10 gal kettle to rest the bag of grains on.

Brew in a Bag a Good Transition to All Grain Brewing Without Intimidation

Nice article. I too started all grain via BIAB. I did extracts for two years before making the move. In that time, I did a lot of research into making extracts better (full boils vs partial boils, late LME addition, etc.). This helped me improve my process and made the move into all-grain less...

    Hula Girl Blonde Ale

Took 3 weeks in the bottle, but has turned out great. This will be a great summer beer.... If it lasts that long. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Cream Ale Old School American Cream Ale

Interesting recipe. I may have to give it a go. How long was the mash?

    Late Malt Extract additions

My last extract was Caribou Slobber and I did a full boil with 100% of LME at flameout. I only used 1/2 of the hops from the recipe. I ball parked it and didn't get an exact measurement. Still was a tad bitter for my liking. But it has sat for a couple months and mellowed out in the keg. I...

    Hula Girl Blonde Ale

I brewed it about a month ago. Just bottled it last night. In a couple weeks I'll post pictures and a tasting review.

    Full Boil

You will need to adjust your hop schedule if your recipe calls for partial boil. The rule of thumb I've heard is to reduce your hops by 25% when doing full boil. Your evaporation rate will depend on how rigorous your boil is. Too hot and you'll burn off more. This was a lesson I learned when...

Filtering wort from pot to fermenter

My last batch I used my bottling bucket. I lined the bucket with a sanitized fine mesh bag and dumped everything in from my cooled kettle. After removing the bag, I let it sit for 30 minutes or so for everything to settle to the bottom. Then I open the spigot and let it run into my carboy...

    Cleaning a "new" used keg

I had the same problem with a couple of kegs that I bought used. Both had the soda smell and the posts weren't right (all had gas only posts, rather than gas and liquid posts). Like others said, I soaked overnight with PBW and hot water, smell was gone.

What to place in bottom of kettle?

I use a SS strainer my wife has for pasta. Does a good enough job.

about to start kegging...need some input please

+1 with this. I purchased two used kegs once. The previous owner said they had been cleaned. When I got them home, both smelled like soda. They got long soaks and multiple cleanings with PBW. I only have two kegs. One keg I keep the same beer in all the time. I clean the lines on that one...

    IPA OG Question

When the beer ferments, it creates CO2. That is what causes the foam. It is normal.
