    Hop Help

Do they work well without the aid of something with more pronounced bitterness? I'm assuming you still do a small 60 minute addition of something like Warrior and focus on the El Dorado, Huell, and Manderina late. Also, have you used all three at once or should the focus be on one, lets say El...

    Hop Help

I welcome hearing what others like in an IPA, as I will take on all flavors. I would say the only times I don't like an IPA with when it has that catty flavor that Citra or simcoe has at times when incorrectly done. Other than that give me piney/resinous, or citrus, or dank berry. I don't want...

please review my first IPA recipe design

I do a saison every summer that at this point I'm going to call perfected (for my tastes, but then again I love ginger). I use a quarter pound of grated fresh ginger along with the peels of 5 lemons soaked in gin as a "dry hop" While the flavor is only over powering when its fresh fresh fresh...

    Hop Help

So I know I want to brew a hop heavy beer. Whether it be a DIPA or a NEIPA or even a regular IPA with a crap ton of dry hops...I could go any of these routes. But I finally have a kegging setup and I'm so excited to finally brew an IPA with low O2 pickup (and before people say oxidation is a...

Something just shipped your way from Boston area. I'm worried their gonna stomp it like Twisted's package. I told them not to stomp when I dropped it off, so fingers crossed

I’m tired of making grassy gross IPA’s.

This is what I do with my ipas recently dryhop while cold crashing. I'll stop this right away. Never crossed my mind it would make that much of a difference.

    Persistent infection problem

I was just posting on an IPA thread about how I've been having issue myself for nearly a year now. All my IPAs, APAs, and blondes have had this off flavor that I can only call homebrew-y and have been overcarbed with acidic bite and less malt backbone than I used to get in the past. I'm not...

I’m tired of making grassy gross IPA’s.

That's a good idea. I can't believe I never thought of this. Maybe a part of me doesn't want to find out I need to replace my equipment.

I’m tired of making grassy gross IPA’s.

I'm honestly thinking about it, but don't have the money to switch out everything. My cold side equipment is all fairly new. My hot side side is definitely old but clean, and my assumption is that anything picked up in the mash tun would be killed in the boil.

I’m tired of making grassy gross IPA’s.

I have no advice for OP, but wanted you to know you aren't alone. I feel each new batch of IPa or APA I make just will not improve. I made a Red Rye IPA and Wookey Jack clone all the way back in my first year of brewing (over ten years ago now). But I have not made a successfully good IPA for...

    PPR Fantasy Football

I just realized that with the 5 way tie for the 3 playoffs spots I'm definitely out because of the tie-breaker rules. Arrrrg. Would anyone be up for changing it to the standard points scored tie-breaker next season instead of the convoluted head to head (which gets super messy when there are 5...

TBCs scrubs are better than my starters. I just love that we're in a 5 way tie going into the last week for the last playoff spot. Going to be a fun week.

    PPR Fantasy Football

I sat there watching the game being so disappointed that I didn't pick up a new kicker when I was going to. But at the end of the day, I wasn't too worried because I was sure Allen and Brown wouldn't combine for 70 pts. But then... they did

    PPR Fantasy Football

Haha, my draft recap said I got a B + and that I would win 3 games. I don't think NFL.com understands grading systems

I'm a little late checking in, but I'd love to do it again this year and I'm all for playing for the beer. I love the chance to get stuff from around the US.

    Mildew on grain mill

We unfortunately got some water in our basement a little while back. None of my brewing equipment was directly exposed, but the high humidity caused some areas to start developing mildew. I was having a look at my equipment and the only thing that appears to have a potential issue is the wooden...

    Raw Ale / No Boil

My quick no boil mixed fermentation beer is finished and amazing. It turned out to be a very sour, (tastes like it got down to 3.1-3.2 pH) crisp beer. There's a great mix of the flavors coming from both the brett and lacto, I dry hopped with 5 Oz of Citra (the only hops in it) to give a nice...

47 hops anyone order from them

Ordered from them last week. It was the day the massive sale started so the website went down a couple times. I ended up accidentally placing multiple orders, which they fixed for me right away after calling. Haven't gotten them yet, but have spoken to their admin on the phone who was great and...

    The Old Fashioned Bourbon Cocktail

This is the kind of stuff I'd love to pick peiople brains on. Due to the recent 47hops super sale I now have a lot of Manderina heading my way. I'm now thinking a 3:1 ratio of Manderina:Sorachia Ace. When you say "add early enough" are you saying limit it to a 20 and 10 minute addition of...

    The Old Fashioned Bourbon Cocktail

The bitters is a nice idea. I've been using 2 dashes of angostura and 2 dashes of orange bitters when I make an old fashioned. It certainly brings the drink together, but I wonder if it would have any effect when talking about 5 gallons of beer? You know what you can do...make the brew without...
