Sweet Stout Left Hand Milk Stout Clone

I really want to make this next and I'm fairly new at all-grain brewing. I've good luck with the 1 batch of all-grain oatmeal stout I brewed, and I have another batch in the secondary. I really want to make this next, but I had a question about the mash temps. You have two temperatures...

    Oatmeal Stout Smooth Oatmeal Stout

I can't remember if I wrote about my finished project. I brewed this recipe up on August 21st; it was my first all grain beer. There were a few changes in my recipe, so I wasn't sure how it would turn out. My mash temp was only about 140, which i brought up to 145 at one point. I also almost...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Easy Chimay Blue clone

After 2 weeks in primary, 5 weeks in secondary, and 2 weeks in the bottle, I couldn't stand it anymore and had to taste one. The taste was nice, still a little hot and no carbonation yet. I'm really hoping that over time it gets some carbonation. I guess I will have to be patient and wait at...

    Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale

So for Hibbleton's recipe, he has 8.5oz of bourbon and 3 oz of oak chips. My question is, when adding this to the secondary do you strain the bourbon off and just add the soaked chips to the beer? or do you add the oak chips and the bourbon?

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Easy Chimay Blue clone

I bottled the Chimay last week, after being in the secondary for about 5 weeks. The ABV was just a little under 8%. My OG was 1.082 and FG 1.02. The taste is great! I can't wait to drink it. I'm going to try and be patient and leave it in the bottles for at least a month before I try one.

Bung dropped in to carboy, what do I do

LMAO! I accidentally pushed my bung into my carboy full of chimay. I guess, it's gonna stay there for the next few weeks, until my Chimay is ready to bottle. I was looking for ideas on how to get the bung out when the time comes, and ran across your forum. I really appreciate the picture...

    Corn Country Cream Ale (AG)

I'm thinking of making this recipe. I like a smooth, non hoppy beer. I happened to notice that the IBU's on this beer were over 48. That seems high, 48 would be quite hoppy. Is this a correct calculation?

I moved it to the secondary yesterday and it already tastes great!!! I can't wait till it's ready for consumption!!

    Oatmeal Stout Smooth Oatmeal Stout

Just put it in the primary. It was my first all grain and I felt like it went pretty well. The largest pot I have is a 6 gallon, so I had to split it up some for the boil. My OG was 1.050, so pretty close to the recipe. I was afraid it was gonna be to hoppy for my taste so I decreased the...

    Oatmeal Stout Smooth Oatmeal Stout

I have been getting my equipment together to do an all grain and I think I'm gonna try this recipe out this weekend. I did notice that it has 36 IBU's. I do not like hoppy beers. I just want to make sure this beer is nice and smooth and not very hoppy.

    Oatmeal Stout Smooth Oatmeal Stout

Thanks mudflap. I've never used a dry yeast, so this will be a new experience.. I can't wait to give this a try. I might have more questions when I get ready to brew in the next week or so.

    Oatmeal Stout Smooth Oatmeal Stout

I am very excited about trying this recipe. It will be my 4th batch of beer, but my first all grain. I have 2 questions before I get started. 1. I noticed that you don't use a yeast starter. Do you think it would make any difference in the recipe to do a starter, or is it best to just pitch...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Easy Chimay Blue clone

hello there Fattyliver. Thanks for posting this recipe. I am going to start a batch this weekend. I was comparing your recipe to the original recipe by summersolstice and noticed that you didn't add the 4oz of belgian aromomatic. Do you think if I added it, it would make any discernable...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Easy Chimay Blue clone

Thanks Ohararp. I was just wondering if you are using the original recipe by summersolstice or one of the alternate recipes that were listed later in this forum? I am planning on using the original recipe. The recipe doesn't list how much priming sugar he uses. Would you use 3/4 cups of corn...
