I usually take full ears of corn with the husk still on, and drop them in a 5 gal homer bucket full of water for about 15 minutes. Then toss them on the grill turning them every 4-5 minutes. Tons better than boiling them imho and the water is a just a quick enough soak that the corn cooks...
I misread your post I quoted, and thought you were suggesting to remove the Flameout addition. Side effect of trying to cram forum tasks into the workday I guess :drunk:
There's nothing wrong with your way, keeping the FO & DH additions per the original recipe while scaling down everything...
Shrug. He asked for a scaled down version of the OP, which is what I gave him. I personally wouldn't remove the Flame Out hops, even if I wanted more dry hop additions. To each their own I guess, but my suggestion is to always brew a recipe as provided first, then make tweaks to your own...
Here it is scaled to 5.5gal into the fermenter, to end up with 5gal +/- into the keg/bottles.
Recipe Specifications

Batch Size (fermenter): 5.50 gal
Bottling Volume: 5.00 gal
Estimated OG: 1.055 SG
Estimated Color: 5.1 SRM
Estimated IBU: 40.4 IBUs...
THe best way would be to use software like beersmith to scale to X gallons. However if you don't have it, you could simply do napkin math to get close. The recipe is based on a 6 gal batch, so 5/6th would be 83.33%. That should get you close on the grain and hops figures, though I'm not sure...
I saw the page. Pretty cool that you made it through four elimination rounds and then won a BoS.
The prize info is pretty vague, My guess is you'll have to ask specifically.
Mind posting your bjcp notes when you get them? I'm interested to see judge feedback.

Congrats on your BoS win for your first entry :drunk: ! This (both retail and homebrew version ) is still one of my all time favorites, so hearing that other people not only really like it, but rebrew it is a huge kick for me.
I don't mind at all, I'm just happy to see this beer getting the...
You could do Nelson, but I'm worried the white wine type profile could get lost in the existing passionfruit.
You could also try Sorachi Ace to bring a bit of lemon citrus to the beer.
I'm curious to hear what you decide and how the beer ends up.
Reading the above the first hop that jumped to mind is Citra. I find a little goes a long way in dry hopping though.
If you don't have any Citra and want to stay with a fruity aroma you could look at Centennial or Amarillo, if you want a little more spice to go with the hefe yeast you could...
Glad you liked it! For me the hops are the star of this beer and the malt bill is the backup chorus. I like the clean wlp001 and personally feel and English ale yeast would bring a yeast profile that I don't want in this beer.
I'll be curious to hear what you think after a side by side...
Smoked a 2lb fresh king salmon filet this morning for brunch. No brine and it went too fast to even get pictures of!

Glad you liked it! I haven't brewed anything in a while as we're getting ready to sell our house, but this is the first brew on my list once we've moved!
I wouldn't worry much about being 5pts off. :mug:
Nah, he's always had to be in the middle of things. By his 'teenager phase' I just meant he's hitting that phase around 7+ months where he's really starting to push back and test me, I'm guessing to see if he gets consistent results.
Oz definitely has the helping part down. Doing some siding repairs and he didn't even want to move when I started up the circular saw.
