What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

Started college with every intention of becoming an ECE. Then I realized, I hate math. So I became an attorney, instead.

The beer that got you into beer

Aw, I love Fraoch! Didn't discover it until well after I'd established my love of beer, but it's still fantastic. Fraoch is one of three (along with Alba Scots Pine and Dog Fish Head Midas Touch) that really made me love ancient and weird recipes. Unrelated, however many dozens of pages ago I...

Comments & Opinions? 1744 Porter attempt.

Morning all! Last week I decided to try the 1744 Porter recipe in the November issue of BYO. It looked good, and I love trying to make old beers. For those that don't have the recipe handy, it calls for 12.25 lbs of 2-row, 2 lbs each of amber and brown malt, and about 13 ounces of patent...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed my second formulation of Little Lion IPA earlier this week. All grain, with a brand new hop profile: Centennial to bitter, flavor and aroma from Cascade and Willamette, and a Simcoe hop stand. Planning to dry hop with more Simcoe in about ten days. Only got about 3.5 gallons out of 7.5...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Not a weekend, but I'll be brewing up an ESB tomorrow, thanks to the bar study-free holiday! It will be my first three-vessel all grain batch.

    any 1911 enthusiasts out there?

Love the 1911! First pistol I ever bought, and one of two carry pistols for me (the other is a Kahr PM9, for those times when a 1911 is just too big). Springfield GI.45 1911A1 As for the question of why not plastic? It's a feeling thing for me. The Savage 1907 is the only double stack...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

*blink* *blink* Duh. Don't mind me, I'm apparently underbeered for the day... :o Anyway, it's still a gazillion times better than the Maple Bacon.

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Haven't had Voodoo Doughnut Chocolate, but the Banana & Peanut Butter Ale is only about a thousand orders of magnitude better than the Maple Bacon Ale. And that brings me full circle: Maple Bacon Ale has easily been the worst.

    Hello from Portland, OR

Yeah, I just figured that out thanks to this thread. Weird thing, there are three businesses (or were--two have since moved out) in that park that I used to frequent rather often. Oh well! I'll keep that in mind next time I'm home. Cheers!

    Hello from Portland, OR

Hey, welcome! I grew up just up the road in Banks. Always nice to see the locals come out of the woodwork. Now would someone explain to me how I've never found Brew Bothers before?!

Best overall gun... Target, hunting, home defense, shtf

This does not follow. I'm advocating the use of a .223 carbine for home defense. It is as lethal as anything else, but less likely to cause collateral damage if (when) you miss. This is exactly why police departments have been transitioning from pistol-caliber subguns to AR-based carbines in...
