Do either of you guys go to the lhbs in Woodland Hills?
I about to start a Saison using WLP568. I'm going to make a 1500mL starter, but if I still need to repitch I may have to see if they carry the strain. It always seems to be a crap shoot there.
I guess that's what i was trying to find out originally - if being on the yeast would be any better than being in the bottle. Do you think they have anything more to clean up?
I do 150g DME into 1500mL water, let it go for two days and pitch the whole thing.
I've thought about crashing out in the fridge and decanting, but wouldn't it might make the yeast sluggish?
My fermentations start in hours.
I've got a sweet stout that's been 3 weeks in primary, and she's done.
I don't usually secondary, so what do you think - will it benefit significantly (flavor wise) by sitting another week, or should I bottle this weekend?
In my iTunes library each playlist has different info tabs on top (Name, Artist, Album, Year etc...).
How do I make them all have the same information?
I'm sick of changing them all by hand!
Pitched the 005 starter and then threw in the contents of the 1098 smack pack for good measure, and saw that I had not really broken the inner pouch open when I smacked.
So to summarize, I pitched a whole lot of yeast into that 6.5 gallon carboy following 60 seconds of O2...can you say...
I got a smack pack (WYeast 1098) as part of a kit that shipped across the country.
The pack wound up just barely swelling after 24 hours, and I figure the yeast just didn't survive the 6 day trip (the ice packs were actually hot to the touch).
LHBS was out of 1098 so I wound up with...
I'm torn between WLP005 and WYeast1098 to brew something close to a Newcastle. I've read the info on both websites, but would love to hear some feedback from you.
Thanks.
I built Yoopers Lagerator for $45 recently.
So far the results have been very good...although you do have to change out ice bottles occasionaly (not daily though).
The more water, the higher the cooling capacity.
Also harder to get rid of after fermentation is done due to the weight.
Avoid getting the fermometer wet as some people have experienced failure after submersion.
I just got parts to make Yooper's lagerator as this looks like a much more...
