    Show us your Kegerator

Well, I just finished my Jester knock off. I did the coffin a little different. I built a tower out of copper and PVC and then built the coffin around it. I also drilled my holes for the faucets straight through the granite tile. Took 2 hrs to get both holes drilled. I backed the tile...

    First time to keg

well, I kegged my first batch tonight. Its a brown ale that I am really looking forward to drinking so I hope it turns out well. The process is 1000X easier than bottling, and I am really digging the new keezer I just got through building so hopefully this beer turns out well. Thanks for all...

    First time to keg

I've got my keezer functional, now it's time to keg some beer. How do I do that? I've read to purge the oxygen out of the keg by putting 30 psi through re empty keg. But for how long? After that do I just syphon the beer into the keg? Do I then purge it again? How long this time? How much...

    All grain equipment

I've been brewing 5 gallon extract batches. My current equipment is: 7 gallon stainless steel pot 7 gallon brew bucket 2 carboys What else do I need to go to all grain brewing? I still want to stick to 5 gallon batches. Also, I'm sure it's been discussed quite a bit, but can someone point...

I accidentally switched the hops ***urgent***

As for saaz was 3% Cascades was 6.3% Ibu for recipe was 18 I added about half the cascades right after I realized the error. The rest about 15 minutes later. I don't have any more hops. But i do have more malt to add per the recipe

I accidentally switched the hops ***urgent***

I'm brewing an amber ale. Recipe called for an oz of cascades at the beginning of the boil and an oz of saaz with 15 left. I accidentally poured the saaz at the beginning. What is the best solution here? Do I pour the cascades at the 15 mark? Will this make my beer taste different? Did I ruin it?

To leave air, or not to?

Ok, good idea. But is 2 inches of air between the panel and freezer better at dissipating heat or is a thin veneer right next to the freezer wall better?

To leave air, or not to?

I am building a cabinet enclosed keezer and am losing sleep over this question. On the one hand, I hear people say that putting a skin on the actual freezer will cause it to work too hard and overheat. On the other hand, I hear people say that leaving an inch or two of air between (even...

    cooling my keezer

can anyone point me to a thread that goes through the process of wiring a fan for the inside of the keezer that pushes air upwards? Where do you get a fan? What size? How much do the cost? Do I just run a chord to plug into the temp. controller and make it kick on when the freezer does...

    Kegs, now what?

I ended up ordering this system from midwest: Brew Logic Dual Tap Draft System w/ Pin Lock Kegs - 5 Gallon Systems - Kegging Systems - Kegging it comes with 2 kegs, co2 tank, regulator and gas lines, and 2 picnic taps. Other than faucets and shanks, what else will I need to convert it into a...

    Kegs, now what?

Okay, I've been trying to decide whether its cheaper to just get one of the starter keg kits off of midwest or from my local homebrew store or if its cheaper to piece one together myself. I know I need kegs and a co2 tank. Is there a detailed list of the exact pieces I need to complete a 2...

    Keezer question

Thanks for the advice. My freezer never does get hot to the touch. In fact, its usually quite cool. I think I will still leave some room between the cabinet and the freezer. Might even wire a fan into it, but I'm not real sure on the schematics of that.

    Keezer question

    Anyone?

    Keezer question

I've read through as many keezer threads as I can find, and I have a question. If I am building a cabinet around my freezer, is it imperative to leave room from the wall of the freezer to the cabinet? Also, if it is necessary for space between the freezer wall and the cabinet, do I have to...

    Seeping Grains

Is there a shelf life for grains? I bought some 3 weeks ago and haven't gotten time to brew the beer yet. They are in an air tight container right now.

Ready to take the next step...

I got nervous and moved my chest freezer to the man cave inside the house so it won't get too cold. Threw a deer hide on top of it and it looks like a nice corner table now, haha. Anyways, I took gravity readings of my two beers that are bottle conditioning. One is right on, the other is a...

Ready to take the next step...

I have a thermostat for the chest freezer so I should be good. It goes from 20-90 degrees or something like that. I do wonder if it still might get too cold with it being in the garage, but as of right now it is working great. I live in the Dallas area so it doesn't get too terribly cold. I...

Ready to take the next step...

I have a small chest freezer that I bought a thermostat for so i can do a lager. I enjoyed the tutorial on the DME. I basically follow all the same steps so it was good to see that I am doing it correctly for the most part. What is BIAB?
