Keezer Build Kenmore 8.8 cu ft

It's just a small dry erase board with magnets on the back, I can't remember where I got it. It was just sitting in the corner not being used anymore, so it was perfect for the job.

It's finished! Fedex stopped by this morning and it was like Christmas morning! A big package with perlick faucets and stainless steel 3/16" bore shanks and tailpiece combo's. I got everything all hooked up, ran some beer line (10' 3/16" clear tubing per tap), and attached the tap handles...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

I just drew up some plans for a simple 2-tier wooden stand. I'll be buying materials and building it tomorrow, then I'll post the pictures of it here when I'm done.

Keezer Build Kenmore 8.8 cu ft

I got the CO2 tank, regulator, 4 way manifold, gas lines and disconnects, liquid disconnects with picnic taps, and 4 kegs as a set from Midwest Supplies back in December as a Christmas gift.

All-Grain Brewers: How long does your typical brew day take?

For a 5 gallon AG batch: breaking out my equipment, heating strike water, mash, sparge, boil, chill, pitch, clean up all in 4.5 hours.

What are your "can't live without" equipment items?

A good digital probe thermometer. Everything else, 15 gallon pots, 10 gallon coolers, false bottoms, valves, tubes, propane burners, fermentation chambers, brew stands, etc. are all luxuries when you really think about it. A heat source and a pot is still a must, but it would still be pretty...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I've got my starter spinning away right now. I'll be making another batch of Hefeweizen on Sunday.

    $10 per Month Unlimited Propane

I use about 20# a month on average and have several tanks constantly in rotation. The deal might be a wash financially, might be slightly better convenience wise of not having to go refill your tanks. But also, I'm not going to be moving a 100# tank around on brew day since I brew on the...

Keezer Build Kenmore 8.8 cu ft

That's a nice score. I haven't kept a running total of everything since a lot of the materials I had laying around the house; various hardware, casters, lumber. Almost all of the cost of this build is in the freezer that I got new for $260 and the perlick stainless faucet and shank combo's...

Keezer Build Kenmore 8.8 cu ft

Here's some new pictures I just took of the progress on the keezer. Even though I don't have the shanks or taps yet, I went ahead and attached the collar with the holes drilled in it. I made an insulating layer inside by making a double layer of 3/4" foil lined styrofoam sheathing, and right...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

Sorry if this has been asked before, I've tried searching and came up with nothing definitive maybe I just missed it. I'm starting to look around for a used motor to power my mill, but I'm wondering what is the recommended minimum horse power of the motor? I see most people here have 1/3 hp or...

    will this temp control work

It looks to my inexperienced eye like that one is a single stage controller, meaning that it is only capable of one process, heating or cooling. Whereas the others can work to heat and cool. It should work fine as long as you only use it for cooling (or heating).

Keezer Build Kenmore 8.8 cu ft

About time for another update I think. I'm still waiting on my faucets and shanks... they got back-ordered again apparently. I ordered them on 6/1 when they were supposedly in stock. Come to find out they were on order to get them again on 6/20, well I called them that day and that date is...

    Cutting down time

I started out brewing without a chiller, doing partial (~2-3 gallons) boils and chilling with an ice bath which took about an hour to get to around 80F for me. So I bought a 25' immersion chiller which took those same partial boils down to around 75F in 45-50 minutes. So when I jumped into AG...
