    can you critique my wiring?

My questions are with the ground and neutral. I have both terminated to the 110 outlet. The ground is terminated to the ground screw on the outlet, with the ground wires coming from the dryer outlets all stewed together. The neutral wire is brought into the 110 outlet and then to the PID. Is...

    can you critique my wiring?

Not the prettiest by far, but what do you think? This was wired from one of the diagrams P-J posted... The gray wires I'm using for the ground....

    ssr troubles

I'm sure it was the element that shorted out that caused the ssr to fail. When I test rain everything, I saw the element snap and pop and the gfci breaker tripped. After further inspection, the back of the element was burned up and the connections were full of soot. Last week was a bad...

    ssr troubles

Yeah, this ssr definitely has a short. I hooked it up to a lamp this morning and the lamp lit up pretty darn bright. Do ssr's short easily? Because the first time I fired up my system, the heating element I was using sparked from the back and burned out... So, I don't know if it ever...

    ssr troubles

Basically I can kill the power to the ssr and still power up the heating element. I did contact Auber and they recommended testing the ssr with a light bulb, so I will be trying that tomorrow. hopefully I did not fry this ssr. Here is a you tube video that Auber sent to me. Same basic...

    ssr troubles

I test ran my system today and found out that my ssr is stuck closed, and Electricity continually flows to the heating element even after I turn off the power to the PID. Could this be just a faulty ssr? I am going to pull my system apart and verify the wiring is correct and will try and...

    Simple Electric Build....From the Pros

I think that is a typo and suppose to mean 240v, and not 240w.....

    Auber PID SWA-2451 Experience?

I picked one of these up to control my boil kettle thinking it would more convenient than using my phone as the timer... But now I'm not so sure. I will report back after I use it next weekend. Also, I haven't tried wiring an alarm to the pid.......

Single PID controlling HLT and BK

Awesome thread! I first have to say thank you P-J for the wonderful schematics and thanks to HBT for the ompf I needed to get this started! Also, sorry to hijack this thread! I will bow out now. I just completed my panel today. The wiring is a bit out of control, but I will who pictures...

Anyone using High Gravity's EBC II Control?

I was using one of these for awhile until the unit sparked and I smelled burning plastic.... Scared me half to death.

Can you buy an electric brewery?

I opened up the control panel on Saturday and could not find any obvious burn marks on the inside, so I thought it was the ronco thermastat, but that's working fine. After I closed the panel up, I tried using it again, but it started "crackling" and not heating water. I turned off again and...

Can you buy an electric brewery?

Scratch the high gravity control panel, it burned up on me on Saturday. Big spark and burnt plastic, it scared the living beegesus out of me.

Single PID controlling HLT and BK

That's what I'm thinking, that way I could add another 15/20 amp circuit in the spa panel for other accessories. But if I add circuit protection in the brewery control panel it should be a double pole breaker, not a fuses, correct? so if one side trips, they both will... I know this is...

Heat Sink inside the Auber box?

I have mine set up with the heat sink inside the Auber box towards the back and it seems to work well. This is for my rims and its only running at 120v...

Single PID controlling HLT and BK

P-J and others, I have a question. I plan on using this exact system, even already picked up the stuff from Auber Instruments including the project box. My only concern is that I have a 50 amp service to the garage, where I plan to brew, and this system is set up for a 30 amp supply. (Also...

    Simple Electric Build....From the Pros

So, I have been watching this thread and waiting to see pictures of the final product. where is everyone placing the outlets on the project box? I wasn't planning on rushing into this build, but due to recent happenings with my brewery, I'm out of commission until I get a new power source...

Can you buy an electric brewery?

I have the high gravity set up and like it a lot. However, I think in the near future I'm going to make an all electric system myself. There are a lot of great wiring plans on this board that are easy to follow.

    RIMS for Dummies

Excellent thread! Brewed twice with my rims system! Second brew was 10 gallons of dry stout and I got 85% effeciency. Not quiet expecting that.
