    RIMS for Dummies

Most of us have gone with the 40amp ssr and heat sink because the 25amp ssr's run hot and will the a fan to keep them cool. Also a 40 amp ssr is jot that much more than a 25 amp ssr.

    First All Grain

For me, I've been a homebrewer for over 10 years and have come to the conclusion that this is just a hobby and don't want to spend oodles of money on a hobby. So when the threads on my mini brew hlt became stripped I decided not to replace it. And so, I switched from a traditional fly sparge...

    BIAB Electric Brewery

That looks awesome! Nice and clean. I'm in the process of completing my ebiab. I went with a different kettle, but now on wishing I would've stuck with the bayou classic...

    HighGravity Sytems

High Gravity just came out with a new controller. It has two PIDs and a pwm. But it costs 800 bucks just for the controler.

Oh man, I didn't even think to search on eBay or amazon.com!!!!

    RIMS for Dummies

It would be at 240.. I have 2 controllers, one for the rims @ 120 and one for the boil kettle @ 240. I would like to consolidate my brewery into one controller, but will wait if it means I run the risk of scorching the wort....

    race track lids

Thanks for the info! I checked out chicompany, but found there lids to be sold without the pressure relief valve. Also stated on the website that they are no longer made... I did see they had the "flat" gaskets, so I will pick up a bunch, just not buying the lid without a pressure relief valve.

    RIMS for Dummies

Anybody use a 1500 watt, 240v heating element? I believe the ones I saw were 7" long. I know its a high watt density, so I doubt it will work. Anyway, has anyone tried it and not scorch the wort?

    race track lids

I'll have to give that gaskets a try. I know the original gaskets were "square" and oval shaped.....I did find a place online for the lids....

    race track lids

I have two old race track lid 3 gallon cornies. Does anyone know where I could find a replacement lid and gaskets? A few years ago there was an online store called discount kegs?? That carried these lids, but I don't think they are in business anymore. Thanks Dan

SYL-2352, still overshoot temps like crazy

Have you checked your ssr? Maybe you have a bad ssr. This happened to me and the heating element was always energized... Just a thought, Dan

    PID for boil

Worked like a charm! I brought the wort up to a near boil at 100%, once the PID registered 200-205 degrees, I brought the PID down to 60% and had a nice rolling boil. Anything lower and I could notice a pulse in the boil. Thanks again!! Dan

    PID for boil

Thank you for the quick responses! I'm brewing today a 5 gallon batch. Yep the 2352 Is the PID I have. I set it to a 2 second cycle time so I will watch it as it boils.

    PID for boil

Since a PID doesn't adjust the voltage applied, only adjusts the amount of time electricity is applied to the element, what will the boil look like? Will it just look like a vigorous boil for a couple seconds and then no boil for a couple seconds? Or can you get it to boil the wort...

    Countertop Brutus 20

I fell in love with this system when the issue came out, but have since missed place the issue. I must've missed it, but what size batches is the original design set up to do? Edit*** I found it, 4.5-5 gallons pre boil volume. Very cool system!

    can you critique my wiring?

Rbeckett, I think you just answered my concerns. I rushed (obviously) through this project and worked on it during a sleepless night and tried to save room in the box by cutting some corners.. I think if it were more organized, there would be no question on the wiring. I do have a copy of...
